Doctor Strange 2: Script Once Had Wanda Kill A Major MCU Character
Warning: This article might contain spoilers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Doctor Strange 2 featured a really different opening scene in the film which sees Wanda’s villainy established immediately.
As per Paul Tweddle of the YouTube channel Heavy Spoilers, the script for the Doctor Strange sequel originally depicted Baron Mordo getting killed at the hands of the Scarlet Witch in the opening moments of the film. “Now that the film is out though, I can say I know for definite there was a scene with Mordo in it in which he went to visit Wanda at the start of the movie,” Tweddle said. “Mordo was going to be the main villain that showed up in the introduction to the movie, and he’d be used to demonstrate Wanda’s new ruthless attitude. He would go to attack her and she’d turn him into mom’s spaghetti, beheading him within seconds of his arrival.” Tweddle went on to explain that the scene’s intention was to establish the Scarlet Witch as the antagonist immediately, rather than keeping the whole information obscure for a reveal later in the first act of the film. After the death of Mordo, the movie would cut to Defender Stranger and America Chavez running through the Gap Junction.
Wanda Killed Mordo In The Opening Scene Of Doctor Strange 2
The cut scene would have accentuated the horrific tone we saw throughout Doctor Strange 2, a creative decision by director Sam Raimi. The description of the graphic nature of the original introduction also bears a resemblance to this one scene that did make the final cut of the movie, where Wanda kills all the members of the Illuminati in another universe. Until now, with a rating of PG-13, Multiverse of Madness has so far, received differing audience reactions for its horrifying content.

A variant of Baron Mordo from Earth-838, as played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, appears in the Multiverse of Madness. However, this version of the villainous sorcerer from MCU’s Earth-616 universe last made an appearance in the post-credits scene of Doctor Strange (2016). Despite this, Doctor Strange briefly alludes to the danger that is posed by Mordo in dialogue early in the movie.
Doctor Strange 2 sets up a lot of creative possibilities to be further explored in the MCU and future sequels of Doctor Strange. Many fans believe that Clea (played by Charlize Theron), who debuted in MCU debut during the movie’s mid-credits scene, will play a vital role in the future of the franchise.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is running in theaters.
