Zendaya released her first Album in 2012
In 2012, Zendaya got an exciting music deal and she debuted in the music industry. Her first single was the song Replay. Zendaya’s song made it to 40 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. A year later, Zendaya released her self-titled first song, which was somewhat successful and featured elements of urban pop, R&B, dancehall, and dubstep.
Zendaya’s first three-leg tour served as promotion for the record, which peaked at number 51 on the Billboard 200. While talking about her music project Zendaya said,
“It’s one of those songs that’s creating its lane or genre. I don’t think it’s pop, I don’t think it’s hip hop, I don’t think it’s R&B. I don’t even know where you would consider it because it kind of mixes that pop sound beat with a very R&B kind of melody.”
In 2017, Zendaya collaborated with Zac Efron for the song Rewrite the Stars. The song garnered a lot of appreciation on Youtube. In her Teen Drama Euphoria, she helped the singer Labrinth, compose songs like All for Us and she also wrote the song I am Tired for the second season.
Zendaya explained she walked away from music for various reasons
When Zendaya appeared for an interview with Andrew Garfield, the Euphoria actress was questioned by the host about why she gave up on music. According to Zendya, quitting music was the best decision for her at the time because there were many good reasons to do so. The actress said,
“I was talking to Sam (Euphoria Director) about it earlier. I was like, I don’t know if I could be a pop star. It’s because as an actress, there’s a level of anonymity that I get to have, which I really enjoy.”
She further said,
“And I can sort my stuff, whatever it is, through a character, and nobody needs to know about it. Whereas in other ways and other means, it’s all you all the time. I like the idea that someone else, namely Rue, can take on these things. I walked away from music a long time ago, for various reasons.”
In response to Garfield’s question on if limits might be the cause of her reluctance to work in the studio full-time, Zendaya replied, “Yes, limits. Learning what it is to me.” Many Zendaya fans want the actress to make her music comeback but she is currently doing well in her acting career and doesn’t intend to make a comeback in music.
