“Dogs lasted for one photo, kids for two”: Kelly Ripa’s Awkward Christmas Message Proves America’s Favorite Family is Slowly Falling Apart
One of the longest-standing couples in Hollywood is Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos. Their love story began after they first met on the soap opera All My Children, and they have been together ever since. They married in May 1996, and they have three children, Michael, 25, Lola, 21, and Joaquin, 19, and the couple have spent the last few decades raising them well. However, it appears that the people’s most beloved family gradually loses its charm of togetherness.
The famous talk show host recently revealed that her family had difficulty sticking together as everyone had busy lives. Aside from that, Kelly Ripa has kept her family holiday traditions alive by posting beautiful photos of her family on Instagram to wish her fans a Merry Christmas.
The Consuelos Family Celebrates Christmas Together
There are many more extravagant holiday parties and more pricey presents under the tree for celebrities, but during the most beautiful time of the year, stars and their families honor annual holiday traditions just like everyone else. During the Christmas season, the Live with Kelly and Ryan host, Kelly Ripa, 52, shared photos with her husband, Mark Consuelos, and their three adult children: Michael, Lola, and Joaquin.
She shared two beautiful pictures in which their dogs joined them in one photo, and she captioned the post, “Merry Christmas (heart emoji) the Consuelos family (dogs lasted for one photo, kids for two)”
However, some folks interpreted Ripa’s post’s awkward caption differently since her family’s togetherness is fading. The kids of Ripa are making their way in life, as everyone does after growing up and choosing their path. Despite her children being adults and having conflicting schedules and breaks, the talk show host shows her love for her family and wants to spend every moment with them.
America’s Beloved Kelly Ripa’s Family Is Disintegrating
The Riverdale actor Mark Consuelos and Live with Kelly and Ryan host opened up about their parenting skills for PEOPLE’s inaugural Family Issue in 2020. Despite believing they are raising their children well, they fear losing the togetherness of their family as their children are now adults and need to live according to their own preferences.
During the PEOPLE’s inaugural Family Issue in 2020, Ripa said,
“As you get older and you learn more, that youngest kid hopefully benefits from a little bit more wisdom … and hopefully fewer nerves.”
“I think I had definitive ideas about raising girls versus raising boys, even though I don’t really believe in gender stereotyping. My sons are just as sensitive as my daughter, and my daughter is as strong as my sons.”
Furthermore, she said about her daughter,
“She (Lola) had really wanted a public account, but we made her wait until she was an adult. Apparently, she turned 18 and immediately went public.”
“It really gives me hope — her generation really supports each other, the way she and her friends have each other’s backs. For all the talk about women helping other women, I see it in her generation in a way I never have before.”
Following in his father’s footsteps, Michael has pursued a career as an actor, writer, and director. In 2021, he joined his father on the set of Riverdale, playing a younger version of Hiram Lodge, while their daughter Lola chose her path to become a singer.
The couple became empty nesters after their youngest child, Joaquin, left for college. During an appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan, Ripa described the experience as “brutally painful” and said, “It’s one of those things where you can never be ready.”
In her regular posts, Ripa shares her thoughts regarding her family, her children’s milestones, and her beautiful family moments.
Throwback Thursday For Kelly Ripa
As she feels energetic from her family bond, the host shared a slew of her family’s Christmas cards over the past 9 years as part of her latest “Throwback Thursday” photos on Instagram. As the carousel began, Ripa and Consuelos’ three all-grown-up kids were seen in a holiday portrait along with the message “Happy holidays.” While diving into the holiday spirits, Ripa shared a sweet Instagram post before Christmas and captioned, “#tbt holiday card edition. Selects ranging from 2022-2003.”
The post then switches to childhood pictures of the siblings, including one of their youngest, Joaquin, as an infant. Lola is also seen holding her baby brother in her arms while Michael smiles a big smile at the camera. Of course, Ripa and Consuelos would want to be included in all the photos taken with their kiddos. In the last two slides, you can see the married couple flashing different silly poses, along with a shot of Ripa appearing to cause chaos while on set at a professional photo shoot.
