Elizabeth Olsen Says Marvel Fans Calling Her ‘Mother’ is Ageist: “Internet’s filled with 12 year olds. I’m not that old”
Elizabeth Olsen doesn’t appear to enjoy the new ‘mother’ moniker that has been attached to her online. She recently admitted in an interview that she does not know why she is called ‘mother’ and does not know what it means.
Fans adored Olsen when she played Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The 34-year-old actress recently attended the Los Angeles Directors Guild Of America theater’s Love and Death premiere while walking the red carpet. The WandaVision actress was already given the moniker ‘Internet’s mom’ a while back.
A few days ago, she was referred to as the ‘internet’s mom,’ but the term gained popularity after she presented at this year’s Oscars alongside, Pedro Pascal. In case you don’t know, he is infamously known as the ‘internet’s daddy’.
And, when asked about the title, Olsen seemed to laugh and cry simultaneously.

Elizabeth Olsen Finds It Odd To Be Called ‘Mother’
During her recent interview on the red carpet of her new HBO series, Love & Death, Elizabeth Olsen didn’t seem to comprehend why people had given her the “very strange” moniker. As aforementioned, Pedro Pascal is often referred to as the ‘internet’s daddy’, as anyone who is already familiar with him would likely already know.
Considering that the two presented at this year’s Oscars together, they were referred to as ‘the internet’s daddy and the internet’s mother’, you might have guessed it already.
The WandaVision star expressed that she found it “very weird” that people were referring to her in that way, and even appeared to wish the internet would call her something different.
When asked about the title, Olsen said, “I really don’t get it,” with what seemed to be both laughter and tears in her eyes.
“I’m conflicted. I’ve heard that it’s a term of endearment. It makes me feel like the internet is filled with 12 year olds. I’m not trying to offend people, but I don’t get it. I’m not that old.”
She also praised Pedro and expressed her desire to collaborate with him in the future, saying:
“I would really like to work with Pedro; we have been friends for a very long time, and I was happy to stand there with it.”

Elizabeth Olsen Discussed Love & Death
Elizabeth Olsen’s most recent endeavor is the true crime program, Love & Death. It is a fictitious account of Candy Montgomery’s real-life experiences. Jesse Plemons, Patrick Fugit, Lily Rabe, Tom Pelphrey, and Krysten Ritter are among the actors who appear in the show. David E. Kelley is the author, and the actors have undergone remarkable changes to portray the real-life characters they have played.
Olsen mostly changed how she looked by modifying her clothes and hairstyles. “I really loved the three-quarter wig I wore,” she said in reference to it.
“It was something that we focused on, trying to figure out how to look most like her when she was on trial since most images of her were during the trial. So I think that I would say that wig, yeah.”
The celebrity once discussed her decision to delete her social media accounts during an interview for a segment on Good Morning America. She said that Instagram “didn’t give me much joy in my life” but added that she felt like she had a positive relationship with it, in terms of her mental health.
The actress’s first leading role came with Martha Marcy May Marlene in 2011. She rose to fame after playing Wanda Maximoff/The Scarlet Witch in the 2015 Marvel film, Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Love & Death is an American crime drama miniseries that debuted on HBO Max on April 27, 2023.
