Business tycoon Elon Musk shocked everyone last October when he went ahead and bought Twitter, something he had expressed back in 2017. Once he had control of the well-known microblogging site, Musk immediately began to make the changes that suited him best.

Musk decided to fire several top executives and other employees who worked every day to improve the site as soon as he bought it, and he then took over as the company’s CEO. Linda Yaccarino, a former executive at NBCUniversal, took over as CEO of Twitter after Elon Musk announced his resignation as CEO on May 11, 2023. But now Elon Musk wants to make a big impact on Twitter, which may or may not surprise the users.

Elon Musk confirms the rebranding of Twitter to an ‘X’

On Sunday, Twitter owner Elon Musk shared a string of tweets where he hinted and asked the users if he should make the platform black or white, which was followed by his hinting that he has been planning to rebrand Twitter’s logo from a bluebird to an ‘X’.

Elon Musk explains the idea of an ‘X’

A lot of people have related an ‘X’ with Elon Musk since he is the founder of SpaceX, but recently he shared the idea behind changing Twitter’s iconic blue bird to the letter ‘X’.

“To embody the imperfections in us all that make us unique” he tweeted. According to reports, Elon Musk sent an email to his Twitter employees informing them that the company would shift to be called ‘X’ and it was the last email they received from the Twitter address. The company had already been renamed X Corp after Musk took over.

Is this the beginning of the Elon Musk era?

Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino seems to be on board with Elon Musk’s idea to rebrand the micro-blogging site which attracts huge traffic across the world every day by stating that this change is going to introduce a major pivot for the social media platform, which will become a marketplace for goods, services, and opportunities which will be powered by AI.

She tweeted, “It’s an exceptionally rare thing — in life or in business — that you get a second chance to make another big impression. Twitter made a massive impression and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go further, transforming the global town square. X will connect us all in ways we’re just beginning to imagine.”

Some people pointed out that this change from the SpaceX founder is the last straw for the users to know that Twitter is no longer the same platform as before, adding that this is just the beginning of the Musk era of Twitter in addition to the other changes he has brought, which at the time forced a lot of celebrities to leave Twitter.

According to NBC News, Musk’s changes to his digital platform earlier this month were met with criticism that could drive away more advertisers and undermine its cultural influence as a trendsetter, but for now, the Twitter owner is looking forward to changing the logo to ‘X’ and marking it as the beginning of a new era.
