Elon Musk’s Mom Wants Everyone To Acknowledge He’s “The genius of the world”
- Elon Musk's huge net worth has earned him the label of the wealthiest person on the planet.
- His mother Maye Musk is not a fan of that label and insisted that he is "the genius of the world".
- People are unconvinced with Maye Musk's claims as they continue to call him welathy.
Elon Musk has achieved a lot in the past decade and has surprised the world. Last year, he unanimously supported Donald Trump and became the biggest donor to the Republican party’s election campaign. With a net worth of several hundred billion, Musk is undoubtedly the richest person on the planet right now.
This often leads people to address him as the wealthiest man, but his mother, Maye Musk seems to have taken offense to that label. Instead, she wants people to acknowledge that he is the biggest genius in the world. In fact, she finds using the word “wealthiest” for him degrading.
Elon Musk’s mother Maye Musk believes he is the “genius of the world”
It would not be wrong to say that Elon Musk comes from a rich family considering his father Errol Musk was engaged in several businesses including dealing emeralds. That, however, does not change the fact that the Tesla Inc. owner has been well-educated and has had an entrepreneurial mindset since the beginning.
By the time he was 24, Elon Musk along with his brother Kimbal Musk founded a company called Zip2 which was an Internet city guide. Compaq acquired the company later. Then, he founded an online financial service and e-mail payment company named X.com which was acquired by Confinity whose company PayPal was much more popular.
One after the other, he founded and co-founded several other companies, and eventually, bought Twitter in 2022 which he renamed X.com. Last November, his mother, Maye Musk appeared for an interview on Fox Business. When host Stuart Varney suggested that people were fascinated with her son because of his money, she was not amused.
I don’t like the word wealthy or billionaire or things like that. Because I think its degrading. I think he is the genius of the world and people are loving him for that. When they see me, they go crazy, because I’m his mother but they love him because of what he does, and they respect him, and I am very proud of him.
While Maye Musk’s point of view is understandable, the label ‘wealthy’ does not exactly sound degrading. Her son might be a genius as she claimed, but then, calling him the ‘genius of the world’ might be a bit of a stretch.
Netizens beg to disagree with Maye Musk’s perception of her son
Maye Musk was also asked how she felt about her son constantly jumping from one venture to another over the last few decades. In addition to answering that question, she also expressed her criticism for those who were unimpressed with the Neuralink venture.
Every time I am surprised and every time I say ‘don’t take on something else’ and he doesn’t listen to me and then he makes a big change. With this Neuralink people are saying ‘why is he [doing it], I don’t want something in my head’ and I say well you are not paralyzed or you aren’t blind.
She further said that if someone was blind and would rather not see then they can argue this point. As for her point about calling him “the genius of the world”, people on X disagree.
He doesn't design the rockets, the engines, he doesn't do any calculations of any kind. He doesn't program the systems, he doesn't do market research, he has a lot of money to pay a lot of people to do that job. That doesn't make him a genius.

Genius? Might be a bit too much. He is wealthy, and that wealth has helped his investments and causes. The real genius are the people who work for him across Tesla, SpaceX, etc…

So, basically calling Musk a genius is arguable because most people do not believe that he is not one and is just a good investor. Maybe, Maye Musk will just have to settle with her son being labeled the ‘wealthiest’ person on this planet.
