The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke is once again hyping up the insane levels of shock and awe heading viewers’ way when the hit Prime Video series returns for Season 4. In a recent tweet, Kripke teased that the new season contains a single scene so outrageous, that he “truly can’t believe” they got away with filming it.

Kripke wrote:

“I would just like to add that I was in post today, working on a Season 4 scene that miiiiiiight be the batsh*t craziest thing we’ve ever done? Like I truly can’t believe we got away with it.”

Knowing The Boys and its proneness for boundary-pushing gore, s*x, and violence, the mind boggles at what kind of content would make even Kripke shake his head in disbelief. Could the show’s twisted superhero satire be taking things into even more gonzo territory in Season 4?

Fans are no stranger to watching heads explode, bodies mangle, and all manner of depravity from the show’s corrupted “Supes” by this point. So if Kripke is to be believed, we may need to brace ourselves for things to get dialed up to twelve when The Boys returns next year.

While plot details remain firmly under wraps, we do know that the ticking clock on Karl Urban‘s Billy Butcher will drive much of the new season’s drama now that the character has been exposed to Compound V.

Though the details remain shadowy, Kripke also hinted in an interview with Variety that other fan-favorite Supes like Maeve, Soldier Boy, and Black Noir have a strong chance to rear their heads once more before The Boys wraps up for good. And of course, Homelander himself will be back with a homicidal vengeance, potentially grooming an equally dangerous sidekick in young Ryan.

Who might not make it out of the season alive remains anyone’s guess. But with Kripke and Co. cooking up their most shocking scene yet, we may need to brace for emotional casualties. Either way, Season 4 looks certain to shatter new records in boundary-pushing absurdity when it clashes onto screens.
