Eternals: Movie Gets Marvel Studios’ Lowest CinemaScore Grade Till Date
Marvel’s Eternals now has a CinemaScore and it’s the lowest for the MCU to date. The previous record was held by Thor with a B+. However, this happens to be a strange moment where some of these numbers are just not adding up. Eternals has always had this discussion, with constant banter about its low Rotten Tomatoes score. However, the film is also on its way to making its chance at the best international box office of the year for Marvel Studios. The opening for the film in the United States has been quite strong when compared to the other releases and for now, it’s getting slightly confusing to cut through the noise. While theatergoers seem to have enjoyed the film, the film hasn’t seen the thunderous crash that Marvel films usually see at the box office. However, we should wait for a couple of more days to see how it pans out. Still, this movie stands out as one of the most unique films that came out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it’s totally living up to that charge in various ways.
Here’s the CinemaScore’s tweet:

Earlier, a press release was sent out by Marvel to clarify how the story plays out of Eternals over time
“I was encouraged to make a good standalone film, very encouraged to do that. I think now the film belongs to you, not me, and we want to see how this child grows in this scary, wild, and beautiful world,” Zhao began. “And then we need to watch and listen and learn and then see where we go from there. But I think, maybe I’m wrong about this, but I feel like filmmakers, it doesn’t matter what genre, they tend to make the same movie over and over and over (laughs).”
“The story takes place across two time periods. One storyline is set in the past when they operated as a formidable team and a close family unit,” the press release said. “The second storyline is in the present, when the group has fractured and split apart, content to live among humans, hiding in plain sight. The prevailing threat of the Deviants, which once again threatens the existence of mankind, means the Eternals need to put their differences aside and regroup.”
