Even Ariana Grande Will Salute Mariah Carey’s Diva Response to a Hater Who Took a Dig at Her Fashion Sense
Regarded as Songbird Supreme by the Guinness Book of World Records, Mariah Carey is without a doubt one of the most influential artists in the world. She has been one of the main artists who has been credited with influencing vocal styles and merging hip-hop with pop through her music collaborations. The successful songwriter-singer and record producer is also credited with breaking down racial barriers for multiracial Americans in pop culture.
Carey’s very popular and loved song, ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’, peaks during the holiday season, making it one of the best-selling holiday songs by a female artist. The singer has been labeled ‘diva’ for her stardom and persona, and her recent reply to a troll who took a dig at her goes on to prove exactly that.
Mariah Carey channeled her ‘diva’ persona for giving a befitting reply to a troll
The pop icon Mariah Carey is one of the most beloved artists in the industry, and she recently collaborated with Ariana Grande on a remix version of her single ‘Yes, And?’. The single is part of Grande’s seventh studio album, Eternal Sunshine.
Announcing the surprise collaboration, Grande took to her social media to share her gratitude for the singer by describing it as,
The one and only queen of my heart and lifelong inspiration. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this dream come true and for sprinkling your brilliance and magic on my little song. It means more to me than I could ever possibly articulate. I cannot wait for everyone to hear this. I love you eternally.

Fans will agree that the collaboration is beautiful, but Mariah Carey also used the song to give back to a troll who decided to take a dig at her fashion choice. The troll wrote, Every time I see Mariah Carey a** this b**** always got on a sparkly gown. I can’t with her. Carey quoted the tweet and wrote,
Yes, and?
YOU’RE GONNA SERVE IN A SPARKLING GOWN EVERY TIME!!!!

Fans were quick to come and tell the troll that the singer is an icon and she’ll always be an icon. A user wrote, ‘An icon can’t help it.’ Someone else mentioned that the trolls are just mad because they cannot sparkle like her. A lot of fans simply called Carey ‘mother’ and ‘queen, while others praised her for her sparkling gowns.
Mariah Carey talks about her Portrait of a Portrait Audible Original
Upon the release of her new Audible Original, Portrait of a Portrait, the songwriter shared what the song Portrait from her 2018 Caution meant as she explored it from a songwriting perspective. She said in an interview with Variety,
It’s interesting because, just thinking about it, OK, what does this song say to me? Why did I write this? What are all of these questions? It’s really something that’s difficult to explain or understand for most people, but it‘s just something that felt so strong to me the way I wrote it because it was really about strong feelings that I had, and then when I went to write for Portrait, it was almost a completely different song when we went to speed it up and make it a dance record.
When asked about the reason for her to re-record her vocals and transform songs into an entirely new experience, Carey added that she realized that transforming the song without actually transforming it and letting someone else decide what vocals to go with did not do it for her. She explained that it was not who she felt she was and mentioned that the second time she went to work with David Morales, she told him that she’d sing a melody on top, and he agreed.
Mariah Carey also gave an update on her new album, teasing that she has written some new songs and is excited about them, but she has to now figure out which songs she’s going to do. During her interview with Billboard, she was asked about what it means to her to have 19 Hot 100 No. 1s, the most among soloists and just one step below The Beatles’ record. Which she said that she thinks it’s astonishing, adding that it’s a little hard to wrap her head around it.
Mariah Carey’s Portrait of a Portrait is out now on Audible under the Words+ Music series.
