Even Tom Cruise’s Top Gun 2 Didn’t Achieve What Filming Naked With Sydney Sweeney Did for Glen Powell – Almost Got Him Killed

Glen Powell laid it all bare and risked everything for the rom-com Anything But You with Sydney Sweeney. In an interview with Variety, Glen Powell mentioned that the rom-com almost managed to kill him, something even an action-packed movie like Top Gun 2 could not achieve. He almost lost his life while filming a risque scene with Sydney Sweeney on top of a cliff.

Glen Powell Almost Died Filming a N*de Scene for Anything But You

The scene in question is the one where Powell and Sweeney are standing on top of a cliff and Sweeney pulls out a spider from inside his shorts. Powell then frantically starts to rip off his clothes as Sweeney gets an eyeful of him while he bends over. While the scene may sound hilarious, shooting it was quite a pain in the rear end for Glen Powell, and it almost claimed his life.

Speaking to Variety, Glen Powell opened up about how he tried to take off his pants a bit too fast and that resulted in him almost tripping off the cliff. However, he did mention that it was a fun experience so he feels like it was worth it in the end.

“Taking your clothes off on the side of a cliff in a hurry is not safe either. Nobody talks about that safety issue on set, where I almost died falling off a cliff taking my pants off too fast. But it’s a really fun scene, so it was all worth it.”

Sydney Sweeney herself was not spared from danger, as the spider bit her hands when she tried to rip it from his shorts. However, she had a sporty spirit about the whole thing and ended up cheekily saying, “I’m very acquainted with Glen now.”

Glenn Powell Opens Up About Staged Romance For Anyone But You

For months, tabloids have been scratching their heads to know if the romance between Glenn Powell and Sydney Sweeney is too good to be fake. In fact, it spread even more when they appeared all smiley and flirty at CinemaCon in Las Vegas while presenting their film. Soon rumors hit that Glenn Powell had broken up with his long-term girlfriend, Gigi Paris, but Sweeney still maintained her relationship with her fiancé, Jonathan Davino.

While talking to Business Insider, Powell sets the record clear. He basically confirms that they were fooling the entire world with a make-believe romance like Ben and Bea did in the movie. 

“I’ll pretty much give Sydney all the credit for this. I don’t have the mental capacity to pull anything like this off, but she’s very smart. She’s very smart. And look, Sydney and I do have authentic chemistry — I had such a wonderful journey with her on this thing. But in terms of actual dating and actually being together? [Laughs.]”

When asked if it was hard for him to pretend to be in love when he actually went through a breakup in real life, he added,

“Well, look, the only reason it made things harder for me to lean into that stuff was that I was going through a very real breakup amidst a promotional tour. I was with someone that I really loved and cared about and was trying to kind of make sense of a lot of stuff. It was a lot easier for Sydney to lean into something like that because she’s in a very committed and wonderful relationship and she’s very happy. So it was a little harder for me.”

Glenn Powell went on to shower a heap of praise on the actress for being so supportive throughout the entire journey and making it a memorable one.
