Every New Character Introduced in Top Gun: Maverick
Top Gun: Maverick is the sequel to Top Gun which starred Tom Cruise and was released back in 1986. After so many years, this movie has been retold with all new characters. On one hand, we have a few old faces with Tom Cruise returning to play his signature role of Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, who’s now an instructor at the Top Gun military academy. This time, Maverick is joined by younger superstar Val “Iceman” Kilmer. Thus, we can see how these familiar faces are paired off with equally well-known yet newer faces such as Miles Teller who plays Brad “Rooster” Bradshaw, or Glen Powell playing Jake Seresin. With that being said, here’s a list of every new character introduced in the Top Gun sequel –
Miles Teller As Bradley Bradshaw
Top Gun 2 will star Miles Teller, who is known for his role in the movie Whiplash. He will play Brad Bradshaw, the son of Maverick’s late wingman Goose. While initially resistant to Maverick, they eventually forge a strong friendship.

Jon Hamm As Beau Simpson
Although “Cyclone” Simpson may have been skeptical of Maverick’s dangerous and seemingly foolhardy approach, he eventually saw that the pilot was worthy of leading his team. Jon Hamm hasn’t always played the lead in every movie or TV show he’s appeared in. He is a master of character acting, best known for his role in Mad Men.
Glen Powell As Jake Seresin
“The Hangman” of the film plays a similar role to that of Iceman in the original. An adrenaline junkie and pilot, Jake Seresin is known for his ego and regularly gets under Rooster’s skin by begrudgingly competing with him throughout. He is originally painted in an unfavorable light, but realizes his flaws quite quickly though and is eventually redeemed when he saves his comrades in arms towards the end of the film.

We don’t know much about him at this point, other than that he will reprise his role alongside Tom Cruise once again for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023).
Jay Ellis As Reuben Fitch
Recently joining the cast of Top Gun: Maverick was actor Jay Ellis. Luckily for him, he got to work with a lot of established stars such as Miles Teller and Glen Powell, who are no strangers to projects in the blockbuster genre. His role in the film is small but notable, as we see him working alongside Miles Teller’s Iceman character and his WSO (Wingman or weapons-system operator) played by Tyler Peck. With that being said, he got to play Lieutenant Reuben’s “Payback” Fitch in the project.
