Extraction 3: Will Chris Hemsworth Return for Third Movie to Become Hollywood’s Leading Action Star?
Chris Hemsworth needs no introduction to the world of entertainment. The actor has been associated with the Marvel Cinematic Universal for the past ten years. With his godly good looks, it feels like the Australian actor was born to play the Thunder God Thor. He has also been a part of other movies like- Men In Black, The Cabin In The Woods, Extraction, The Hunstman, and many more.
Chris Hemsworth’s Extraction 2 premiered on June 16, 2023, on Netflix. With the rumors and speculations surrounding the exit of the actor from the billion-dollar franchise, his fans are confused and anxious about the update on the rumor. The Marvel star even spilled the beans on his upcoming projects during an interview with a reputed media house.
Chris Hemsworth On His Association With Extraction 3
Netflix seems like reinventing its action genre with power-packed shows like Fubar and Extraction. Chris Hemsworth’s action-drama Extraction saw its sequel’s release in June 2023. While talking about his character Tyler Rake in Extraction, Chris Hemsworth shared with Total Film-
“I love playing the character. I love this world. I honestly feel like we made a better film than the first one. That’s rare in the franchise world. We’d be remiss not to have a crack at another one.”
On the speculations surrounding Extraction 3, director Sam Hargrave mentioned-
“Netflix has mentioned they’d be excited to do it, and Hemsworth loves playing the character. I definitely have a bunch of ideas bouncing around up in this brain of mine. It really depends on this [second] movie, and if fans are as appreciative of this movie as they were of the first, then you can probably bank on a third one at some point.”
The filming of Extraction 2 was physically tiring for the actor. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he spoke about an incident where he almost caught fire while filming a scene. He said-
“Initially, when [director] Sam [Hargrave] pitched it to me, I was kind of shaking my head going, ‘Hang on, hang on, how is this even possible?’ And then the excitement kicks in. On the day, it’s like being a kid, it’s like being involved in the most crazy sporting experience you’ve ever been a part of.”
For Chris Hemsworth Extraction 2 was all about stunt rehearsals after rehearsals, but this did not dampen the spirit of the 39-year-old actor’s daredevil attitude toward life.
Chris Hemsworth’s Mad Max Prequel Look Released
Tom Hardy’s Mad Max: Fury Road was widely appreciated in 2015. From being the best action movie to being nominated for Academy Awards under multiple categories- the Mad Max franchise movie still ranks at the top with respect to best action movies. However, the much-hyped prequel of Mad Max: Fury Road would see the entry of the Thunder God from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anya Taylor-Joy would be seen playing the younger version of Furiosa, as the story chronicles around how she evolved into the position, where the audiences found her at the beginning of the Mad Max: Fury Road.
According to a few pictures that are doing the rounds of the tinsel town, Chris Hemsworth was seen with a vibrant ginger beard and looks older in a golden jacket. He was also spotted riding a monster truck with multiple horns fixed over it. The vehicle had its resemblance with the design from the set of Mad Max.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Men In Black actor was asked if he would be coming back to Marvel’s character Thunder God, Chris Hemsworth replied, “Maybe!” While talking about his retirement from the MCU, the actor went on to say-
“I don’t want to continue to do it until people are so exhausted that they roll their eyes when they see me come on the screen as that character. If an audience wants to see it, and if there’s something that we believe is exciting and fun, then great.”
Furiosa is set to release in theaters on May 24, 2024.
