We’re only a few days away from the release of the next The Batman 2022 picture, with Robert Pattinson probably becoming the face of a whole series of Bat films in the future. But, if you’ve seen all of the trailers and read all of the news, speculations, and conjecture, what else could you possibly read to prepare for the films? Here are some facts you should be aware of before watching the film.
5. The Cast of the Film
Pattinson will portray the title character, and he will be accompanied by Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, and a somewhat unrecognizable Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
The cast also includes Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, and Barry Keoghan.
4. The Motivation of the Film
Reeves stated in January 2019 that the newest Caped Crusader picture is an original narrative that is “very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale,” adding that he believes the plot “will be exhilarating but also emotional.”
The narrative of the film has been kept under wraps, although the director of Let Me In stated that it is “more [about] Batman in his investigative mode than we’ve seen in the films.” “[Batman] is supposed to be the world’s best detective, and that hasn’t always been a part of what the movies have been,” he continued. I’d want for this to be one where, as we go through the process of hunting down offenders and attempting to solve a crime, it’s going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation.”
3. The Riddler’s Story
In the film’s first teaser, Batman is frightened by the Riddler, who some fans believe is inspired by the Zodiac Killer – and not only because they both enjoy riddles. Leaked photographs of Dano in character show him wearing a mask and clear spectacles, which appear to be inspired by the outfit used by the famed serial killer who plagued Northern California in the 1960s.
4. A Unique Portrayal of the Caped Crusader
Unlike other Batman adaptations, which show Bruce Wayne as suave and confident, Pattinson’s portrayal of the character is more melancholy. In February 2022, the Good Time star told GQ, “He’s kind of a strange as Bruce and a weirdo as Batman.” “It’s hinted in this that he’s had a bit of a breakdown.”
And it’s not only Batman who’s downcast this time: “It’s a melancholy movie,” Pattinson subsequently said. “It’s about him trying to find some optimism in himself, rather than simply in the city. Normally, Bruce never doubts his own abilities; instead, he doubts the city’s capacity to adapt.”
5. The Director
The Batman is directed by Matt Reeves. He began his career as a cocreator on the WB show Felicity before moving on to direct Cloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and its sequel, War for the Planet of the Apes.
