Season 2 of the live-action version of One Piece is reportedly set to premiere in 2025. The series, which is a live adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s beloved manga and anime, is expected to begin filming in June this year and will most likely continue till January 2025. It seems that the fans have to wait for a long time to see Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates return on the screen despite Season 2 renewal confirmation coming 15 days after its debut.

The filming schedule for One Piece Season 2 is subject to change and the episode count for the upcoming season hasn’t been confirmed yet. As production progresses, fans can expect updates regarding the same. So far, it has only been announced that Season 2 will introduce Smoker and Tony Tony Chopper.

Joe Tracz Joins Matt Owens As Season 2 Co-Showrunner

The co-executive producer of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Joe Tracz, has been confirmed as the writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner of the upcoming season of One Piece. He is working alongside Matt Owens, the Season 1 writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner.

In a statement to Deadline, Tracz brings up the Straw Hat Pirates’ destination as teased in the Season 1 finale. He says:

I’ve been lucky to work on big adaptations of several beloved series, and they don’t come bigger or more beloved than One Piece. I’m a huge fan of Oda-san’s incredible imagination and I was blown away by what the live-action team created in Season One. So it’s a dream and a joy to come aboard the Going Merry as it enters the Grand Line for an even more giant Season Two.

Meanwhile, Owens commended Tracz for the wealth of knowledge and experience he brings into the second season of One Piece. He said enthusiastically:

Joe has brought a wealth of enthusiasm and experience into our second season that will help take One Piece to new heights. We’re incredibly lucky to have him as a co-captain of this ship. The best crew on the seas grows larger!

Season 1 of One Piece spent eight weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10, reaching the Top 10 in 93 countries and earning the #1 spot in 46 countries. The show also received a 95% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes from more than 10,000 ratings.
