Fans End Barbie vs Oppenheimer Debate, Prove Tom Cruise Right Buy Buying Tickets to Both Movies
Tom Cruise ended the Barbie vs. Oppenheimer dilemma for the fans once and for all. On one side, fans have Barbie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as the eponymous doll and Ken alongside Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, John Cena, Dua Lipa, and Simu Liu, and on the other side, they have Oppenheimer featuring Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer, with Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt, and Florence Pugh. Initially, fans were confused about which film to see and which to leave as both hit the theatres on the same day. But Hollywood superstar, Tom Cruise provided the fans with a mind-blowing solution.
Fans Adamant On Proving Tom Cruise Right By Purchasing Tickets To Barbie and Oppenheimer
The moviegoers seem to love Tom Cruise‘s recommendation of a Barbie and Oppenheimer double feature as thousands of them have purchased tickets to watch Barbie and Oppenheimer back-to-back on their shared release day. In response to the battle of the bomb vs. the bombshell, the fans have chosen both. With two weeks remaining when both the summer blockbusters hit the theatres on July 21, AMC Theatres, the world’s largest cinema chain reported that more than 20,000 AMC Stubs members have purchased tickets to see Barbie and Oppenheimer on the same day.
Elizabeth Frank, executive VP of worldwide programming and chief content officer at AMC Theatres said, “Just as exciting, with ten days to go until these movies open, this may only be the beginning. From Friday to today, we saw a 33% increase in the number of guests who decided to create their own double feature by purchasing tickets to see both movies on the same day. We are thrilled to see this momentum.” It will be an exciting experience for the fans to watch Christopher Nolan’s atomic drama Oppenheimer and Greta Gerwig’s colorful romp Barbie on the same day.
What Does Tom Cruise Have To Say About His Film’s Clash with Barbie and Oppenheimer?
Though Barbie and Oppenheimer do not seem to cater to similar audiences, both the upcoming films have piqued the fans’ interest. The two films could not be more opposite.
In the Barbenheimer clash there’s a fair chance that Tom Cruise’s big-budget sequel Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, which opens a week prior on July 12, could end up again in the top spot on domestic box office charts over the weekend.
Regarding the clash, Cruise urged the fans to support both films this summer as he himself recently bought tickets to both films, revealing he plans to watch Oppenheimer first before taking in Barbie. Cruise took to social media to pose the idea that moviegoers don’t need to make a choice between the two instead they should perhaps pick his advice of going for both.
According to earlier reports, Tom Cruise was unhappy with the IMAX screen issue regarding his upcoming film, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. Tom Cruise was vocally pissed behind the scenes over the IMAX exhibition deal Universal Pictures secured for Oppenheimer, which director Christopher Nolan famously shot entirely in the IMAX format. Because of the deal, Cruise’s film will be completely knocked out of IMAX screens entirely, potentially drawing spectacle and box office dollars away from the film once Oppenheimer is released.
