Four Different Versions of Batman Will Feature On Big Screens In 2022
Comic book movies fans and also, TV shows might remember years in the past when many studios were a little skeptical about using more than one version of their characters. Viewers of Arrow know well and good and even that the series had to dance around a few characters while the same characters were also used on the big screen for the simple fear of confusing fans, but the same fear has seemingly been squashed at Warner Bros. as 2022 is all set to include four different versions of the Dark Knight on the big screen across its movies this year. 2021’s No Way Home brought three different versions of Spider-Man together in live-action in one single film, and Warner Bros will be matching that number across just two films later in 2022.
2022 will have 4 different Batmans
Kicking off 2022 with the Batman which will be Robert Pattinson’s version of the character in…well, a film directed by Matt Reeves. Appearing in a new interview with Total Film, Pattinson revealed that he was “aiming for quite different stuff” with his version of Batman, a character that even Pattinsons’ agents didn’t think he really wanted to play. He said, “Even my agents were like, ‘Oh, interesting. I thought you only wanted to play total freaks?’ And I was like, ‘He is a freak!'” Director Matt Reeves had previously compared his version of Batman to the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, revealing Empire: “Rather than make Bruce Wayne the playboy version we’ve seen before, there’s another version who had gone through a great tragedy and become a recluse. So I started making this connection to Gus Van Sant’s Last Days, and the idea of this fictionalized version of Kurt Cobain being in this kind of decaying manor.”
After Pattinson’s Batman is an unnamed actor with the animated DC League of Super-Pets, slated to voice Batman. It seems quite unlikely that this version of Batman will be a very major part of the movie, but the film will have Ace the Bat-Hound as one of its stars so Batman will definitely make an appearance. Keanu Reeves, Thomas Middleditch, Diego Luna, and Ben Schwartz, all are confirmed as part of the cast but their roles are not yet revealed. Could one of these actors be Batman?
The next two iterations of Caped Crusader that will appear are actually in the same film as it has been confirmed that both Michael Keaton’s Batman and Ben Affleck’s Batman will appear in The Flash movie. Keeping in mind, the level of secrecy that Marvel has had with keeping their surprises a secret, we cannot entirely rule out the possibility that there may be yet another Batman in the film.
