Frank Grillo Hints At Crossbones’ Return To MCU!
Frank Grillo thinks that Crossbones will be returning to the MCU at some point, just not sure when.
He played Brock Rumlow in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the movie set up Brock’s transformation into Crossbones and he got to suit up in Captain America: Civil War.
But unfortunately, the fill killed him during the opening mission.
His death was caused by a suicide bomb strapped to his chest, but Grillo has returned to play Crossbones in various ways.
Avengers: Endgame has now brought him back during the time travel mission to 2012 and the Battle of New York. Marvel revealed Rumlow and the STRIKE team took Loki’s scepter, explaining how HYDRA got the tesseract for Avengers: Age of Ultron.
And recently, Grillo had the opportunity to voice Rumlow again in Marvel’s What If…?, the animated Disney+ series.
But this might now be the last time viewers get to see Crossbones in the MCU.
Grillo is doing press for his new movie Copshop and in the interview, he was asked about the possibility of playing Crossbones again.
He did shot down the idea of an origin movie for Rumlow, but he did saw that he thinks Crossbones will return to the MCU at some point.
He did not say how or where this could occur, but he is positive that his days of playing Rumlow in the MCU aren’t over.
He said ” I think Crossbones is a secondary villain in that universe. I think you’ll see him pop up now and again. I think tomorrow you’ll see Crossbones in the animated What If series. I think my first episode is tomorrow, so that’s exciting. Crossbones will live, I just don’t know in what area of the Marvel universe yet.”
On the basis of this interview, it is unclear if Grillo is speaking about his future with the MCU as Crossbones with any knowledge about what Marvel Studios is planning.
Maybe he is highly hoping that they call him to play Crossbones considering he has been called repeatedly before.
Grillo had previously revealed that he has 5 movies left on his contract with the Marvel Studios so that won’t be an issue.
