Evans said he would do anything for Reynolds, calling him a genius. In the Deadpool & Wolverine cameo, Evans delivered a profanity-filled rant—quite different from his usual clean-cut roles. He ranted about memorizing the scene, but it didn’t go as planned because his effort to memorize the scene has left fans baffled!
Chris Evans’ Script Memorization Stirs Debate
Remember the post-credits scene of Deadpool & Wolverine, when Deadpool and Wolverine meet Johnny Storm in the Void? It’s when a hooded figure jumps down and takes off his hood.
Deadpool seems excited, thinking the hooded figure is Captain America. But when Pyro and Cassandra Nova’s crew show up, Johnny reveals himself. Pyro then puts out Johnny’s flames. Deadpool and Wolverine wake up tied up with Johnny, at which point Chris Evans’ character delivers a final, angry speech against Nova, saying (via Marvel For Fans):
And I’ll tell you who ‘her’ is: Cassandra Nova. A megalomaniacal, psychotic a*shole. A finger l*cking dead-inside pixie slab of third-rate dime-store nut-milk. And I’ll tell you what she can do. She can l*ck my goddamn cinnamon ring clean and kick rocks all the way to bald hell.
Wanting to impress, Evans decided to memorize the entire speech, filled with bad words, without using cue cards. He told People:
Ryan was like, ‘Listen, if we need cue cards…’ and I was like, ‘Cue cards? I’m showing up off-book.’ I don’t get to say dialogue like this. Trust me. I’m going to enjoy every second of this. Memorized.
While his effort is impressive, some fans are critical, arguing that memorizing a script is a basic part of an actor’s job. They feel Evans is overemphasizing something that should be standard practice. Check out some fan reactions:

Chris Evans is Excited for Christmas Comedy Red One
Chris Evans is already looking ahead to his next project. The actor is set to star in the upcoming Christmas comedy, Red One, alongside costars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and J.K. Simmons as Santa Claus. The 43-year-old expressed his excitement about the film in the same interview, saying:
I love Christmas movies, and I love Christmas. So I jumped at the chance to be a part of this, and it was just such a relief when I finally saw it for the first time, it’s great. It really is a fun, exciting movie. Jake [Kasdan, the director] just knocked it out of the park. When I first read it, I really felt, ‘God, this has a real [Steven] Spielberg vibe,’ and that’s exactly what Jake brought to the film. It feels special.
With Red One set to hit theaters in November, fans can expect a very different side of Evans as he trades in his superhero suit for a more festive role.
