George Clooney Was Annoyed of Meeting Julia Roberts’ Every Whim, Wanted Her To Leave Him Alone Despite Working Together
Ol Parker, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Daniel Pipski, directed the romantic comedy Ticket to Paradise in 2022, starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts. The film centers on a divorced couple who band together to ruin their daughter played by actress Kaitlyn Dever’s impending wedding in Bali.
Following the release of Ocean’s Eleven in 2001, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind in 2002, Ocean’s Twelve in 2004, and Money Monster in 2016, the film brought Clooney and Roberts back together and the audience was in awe of them. It was however met with mixed reviews from critics and viewers when it debuted in October and went on to earn over $172 million worldwide. George Clooney recalled the time he asked Julia Roberts to leave him alone
Actor George Clooney appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert ahead of the release of his 2022 movie Ticket to Paradise in which he starred alongside Julia Roberts and shared that there was a time when he was tired of her. He explained,
“It was fun for us to go shoot it. Julia is a good friend.”
He further noted that they all lived on Hamilton Island, where Clooney was accompanied by his wife and kids, whereas Roberts was there alone and ended up hanging out with his family a lot. To which he said,
“At some point, that gets a little annoying because she’s not there with her family. She comes up every morning and we have to bring her food and drive her around. At some point, it’s like, ‘Julia Roberts leave me alone.’”
During an interview with People, Clooney shared that the minute they met, they had fun, adding that the beauty is when they work with people who take their work seriously and don’t take themselves seriously, that’s fun.
George Clooney calls Julia Roberts ‘a gifted actress’
During an interview with the NY Times, Clooney admits that he has always been drawn to Roberts for a lot of reasons and one of them is that she has forever been a proper movie star but is willing not to take herself seriously and it makes such a huge difference in life. He added,
“She’s also a really gifted actress. She works really hard but you never see her sweat, and it’s the quality I appreciate most in my favorite actors, like Spencer Tracy.”
In the same interview, Julia Roberts expressed that The Clooneys saved her from complete loneliness and despair. She mentioned,
“We were in a bubble, and it’s the longest I’ve ever been away from my family. I don’t think I’ve spent that much time by myself since I was 25. I love being at home, I love being a mom. Being in Australia was really challenging because of all the COVID regulations, and I think it’s a real testament to friendship and to the creative environment we were in that it wasn’t even harder, because I’m not built to be one person anymore. It’s just not in my cellular data.”
