Gerard Pique Faces Major Backlash for Leaving His Kids Sasha and Milan Out in the Rain While Dropping Them off at Shakira’s Home

Last June, the famed Colombian singer Shakira and the Barcelona football star Gerard Piqué shocked their fans by announcing their separation after staying together for 12 years. The pair started dating back in 2011 and share two sons, Sasha Piqué Mebarak and Milan Piqué Mebarak, but it all took an ugly turn when the Hips Don’t Lie singer found out that her boyfriend was cheating on her. And then it was reported that the former Spanish footballer had moved on with his new girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti, who is a college student studying public relations.

Their alleged affair began in August 2022, when they were pictured packing on the PDA at a Dani Martin concert. In January 2023, Piqué and his now-girlfriend made their Instagram debut. Not only that, but newly released footage suggests he was already dating Marti while Shakira was traveling with their children. Since then, fans have speculated that Piques’ infidelity may have been the true cause of their breakup.

Shakira came to Instagram a day after Pique uploaded a photo of himself with Clara on his social media page, and she wrote a cryptic remark in Spanish along with a video. “Las mujeres ya no lloran las mujeres bailan merengue!” This is a line from her new song, BZRP Music Session #53, which she co-wrote with DJ Bizarrap. The message reads as “Women don’t cry anymore, women dance merengue!” which is similar to the words of her hit track, Women no longer cry, they cash in.

Shakira is much more bold and unapologetic than ever in BZRP Music Session #53, which peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs list. She screams diss verses at Piqué and even makes fun of his current love interest. The singer chose to explain her side of the story to her fans without holding back and to make it obvious that she would never go back to him.

“I’ve tried to keep the situation concealed from my kids. I try to do it and protect them because it is my main goal in life. But then kids hear stuff at school from their classmates or see some nasty, unpleasant news online, and it just affects them, you know.”

Since their breakup, every step of the estranged couple has been scrutinized by the media and paparazzi, as neither celebrity has openly addressed the real reason for their split, but Shakira’s diss track says it all loud and clear that he was cheating on her.

The Europa Press agency tweeted a clip of the two children exiting Pique’s car and walking into their mother’s home. They had to wait for a while before being allowed inside, and as a result of the awful weather—it was raining and windy in Barcelona—they became wet. Before their mother, Shakira, answered the door and Pique disappeared as soon as they both went inside, the kids were out on the street. Fans are now criticizing him and labeling him a negligent parent for his bad behavior, which included not going outside to drop off his children while they got wet in the rain.
