The beloved couple relocated themselves, along with their children Levi, Vida, and Livingston, from Malibut to Lone Star State, Texas, to reconnect with their roots. In an interview with Southern Living Magazine earlier this year, in March, the couple dwelled upon their decision.
We were living a happy life in Malibu. We had a beautiful house that we built together and put a lot of love and care into. We were raising our kids there. I was growing everything in the yard. I had bees making honey.
Following a family crisis, the family spent an extended time in Texas to help out the actor’s mother and two brothers, and the model noticed a significant change in the actor. She described this effect as ‘gravity’, adding that gravity is very different in Texas. She recalls a conversation the two of them had in a car where, even though she knew the answer, she asked him if he wanted to move to Texas, to which he replied yes.
The actor mentioned that moving was harder on the model entrepreneur as she had lived in all the glamorous places in America and had no friends when they moved. With time, they adjusted, and Matthew McConaughey said they were going to church. Sports became a stronger tradition for the kids before adding that ritual came back as soon as they moved to Texas.
He lastly added that there was no more drama to deal with as soon as they moved to Texas. Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves own a brand of tequila Pantalones and run their Just Keep Livn’ Foundation.
