Gisele Bündchen Regrets Getting a B*ob Job, Admits to Wearing Baggy Clothes to Hide Her Body
Gisele Bundchen is a Brazilian model and actress who became a household name in the fashion industry. The 42-year-old began her modeling career at the age of 14, and since then has been walking the runway for some of the biggest fashion brands in the world. Over the years, Bundchen has graced the covers of countless magazines, including Vogue, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar, and has become a fashion icon in her own right.
However, the Taxi actress confessed in a previous interview that she had experienced body insecurities during the early stages of her career. She had regrets about getting a breast augmentation done, which she admitted was a way of concealing her natural shape.
Gisele Bundchen’s Body Insecurities And Regrets
Gisele Bundchen has been candid about her past struggles with body image issues. After breastfeeding her children, Benjamin and Vivian, she decided to undergo a breast augmentation but soon regretted the decision.
The model felt vulnerable and unable to live up to people’s expectations while getting praise for her physique. She shared with People magazine,
“I was always praised for my body, and I felt like people had expectations from me that I couldn’t deliver. I felt very vulnerable because I can work out, can eat healthy, but I can’t change the fact that both of my kids enjoyed the left boob more than the right.”
Bundchen’s desire to balance and avoid criticism continued,
“All I wanted was for them to be even and for people to stop commenting on it. Things can be looking perfect on the outside, but you have no idea what’s really going on.”
The supermodel’s ex-husband, Tom Brady supported her during her breast augmentation ordeal, which she kept a secret in 2015. The Kiss The Ground star praised the American footballer in her memoir, Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life.
She disclosed, “When I woke up, I was like, ‘What have I done?’ I felt like I was living in a body I didn’t recognize,” she continued saying,
“For the first year, I wore clothes because I felt uncomfortable. He just said, ‘I love you no matter what’ and that I looked beautiful.’ This was another lesson: What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. But I wish I would have learned that a different way.”
Bundchen learned the valuable lesson that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, though she wishes she could have learned it differently. In Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life, the supermodel shares deeply intimate issues.
Gisele Bundchen Shared Personal Details In Her Memoir
The renowned glamour girl has revealed her personal experiences in her book, Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life. She recounted being teased for her height and appearance growing up, which affected her self-esteem.
According to the memoir, she was a foot taller than everyone else in her grade, including boys, and was rarely asked to slow dance at parties. This led to hurtful nicknames, such as Olly.
In her 20s, Bundchen led an unhealthy life, working 350 days a year and smoking a pack of cigarettes a day. She also drank coffee to stay awake and wine to help her sleep. In 2003, the mother of two had numerous panic attacks, which led to a doctor prescribing Xanax; but, she preferred natural remedies, including yoga, breathing techniques, and meditation.
The Devil Wears Prada actress sustained multiple wounds during her modeling career, including nine shoulder dislocations and an ACL injury while skiing. She revealed,
“I’ll bet every model out there has some kind of back problem,” writing, “I know I do. Aside from my chronically dislocated shoulder, I have scoliosis and major issues with my knees that became worse after spending hours not only walking back and forth trying my best to balance in impossibly high heels.”
Further continuing,
“also contorting my body during endless photo shoots, barely breathing while holding one unnatural position after the next and trying to look at ease.”
Bundchen also revealed in her book that she and the NFL player had two small and intimate wedding ceremonies—the first in Santa Monica and the second in Costa Rica. Although without extravagance, the second ceremony fulfilled her lifelong dream.
