“Good for her, man”: Former The View Host Rosie O’Donnell Says Madonna is Immune to Criticism Despite Advanced Age
Rosie O’Donnell is a reputed name in the world of entertainment. The American actor started her career as a teenager with the TV series Star Search in 1984. The comedian made a debut in Hollywood with A League of Their Own with Tom Hanks and Madonna in 1992. Her talk shows The Rosie O’Donnell Show and The View helped her create a name in Hollywood.
With the temporary nature of Hollywood, where everything changes after a movie release, finding a good friend is very difficult. The Frozen singer has been friends with the talk show host ever since the early 90s.
Rosie O’Donnell Is All Praises For Her Friend Madonna
Friendships at the workplace do not last for a long time. However, there are exceptions to everything. The bond between the Girl Gone Wild singer and Rosie O’Donnell is a living example of a great friendship. The duo became good friends on the sets of the movie A League of Their Own.
The 64-year-old singer is often trolled for her appearance whenever she posts a picture on social media. She was subjected to trolling for her look at the Grammys Award ceremony in February. The Vogue singer had replied back to the trolls with a message that read as-
“Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny that permeates the world we live in. A world that refuses to celebrate women pass [sic] the age of 45 And feels the need to punish her If she continues to be strong-willed, hard-working, and adventurous,”
During an interview with media outlet Page Six, Rosie O’Donnell went on to speak about her friend Madonna. She said spoke about the celebrated singer has tried to be her best and different in the crowd of megastars. She said-
“You know, Madonna is one of the most famous women in the world and has been my entire lifetime,” she added. “And she would get vitriol at her at the height of her fame.”
The actor-turned-television producer spoke about meeting Madonna on the sets of a movie they did together in the 90s. She recalled-
“I remember we were doing ‘A League of Their Own’ and she had brown hair and we would be in an elevator and grown men, you know, would say to her, ‘I like you better as a blond,’” Rosie O’Donnell said. “And she would look at them and go, ‘You know, f–k you.’ And I thought, good for her, man, good for you.”
The Sleepless in Seattle actor was all praises for her songwriter friend. Rosie O’Donnell continued-
“She knows who she is, what she wants, what she wants to look like, what she wants to wear, what she wants to say. And I think she’s strong enough to weather whatever complaints people have about her now and for always.”
Rosie O’Donnell and Madonna have been good friends for over three decades. They clearly defy the myth that women cannot praise each other or cannot be great friends.
Rosie O’Donnell Is Happily Single
The talk show host and famous TV personality is happy to be single. In 2002, Rosie O’Donnell spoke about her s*xual orientation and confirmed that she is a lesbian. The 61, year-old comedian broke up with her TikToker ex-partner Aimee Hauer in 2022 after being together for less than a year. The producer claimed she is happily single and living the best time of her life with her daughter Dakota.
During her appearance on the Howard Stern Show opened up about her ex-girlfriend. She said-
“I watched her little videos and every time I saw her I would smile and [be] like, ‘This woman is perfect. Look at her, she’s so happy and enthusiastic and bright and she has a light coming from her,’”
Rosie O’Donnell was previously engaged to Boston police officer Elizabeth Rooney. They separated from her in late 2019 after two years together. The talk show host launched her show, Onward with Rosie O’Donnell last month. She struggles with depression and is on medical treatment for this which includes anti-depressants and anxiety medication.
