Guillermo del Toro’s Swamp Thing Can Never Happen
In the recent announcements made by DC Studios, it was revealed that the horrifying tale of The Strange Thing is being brought back to the silver screen. Studio heads James Gunn and Peter Safran talked about how the film will deal with the origin of the monster.
Even as netizens are abuzz with the premise and the tale of the monster coming back to life, there is some discourse on the director. Guillermo del Toro is famous and overqualified to direct a story like this. And fans were slightly disheartened to know it won’t be him helming the project.
While Gunn was interacting with the comments on one of his social media posts, one fan pointed this out. And Gunn clarified the matter quickly. The Guardians of the Galaxy director said that he was not approached by del Toro in the first place. This is how the conversation went:
It is saddening that The Strange Thing won’t come to life through del Toro’s lens. But the decided premise of a powerful story like this one is hard to come by.
