Gwyneth Paltrow Says It’ll be “Hard” for Her to Return as Secret Wars Robert Downey Jr Return Rumor Catches Steam
The rumors surrounding actor Robert Downey Jr’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as his iconic role have created enough buzz not only among fans but his co-stars.
And even Gwyneth Paltrow has come forward to speak about it. Although the Oscar-winning actress does not shed light on Robert Downey Jr’s rejoin Avengers, she does mention that it is hard for her to return to acting. The actress humorously stated that her co-star and close could probably get her back.
Gwyneth Paltrow Believes Robert Downey Jr. Could Get Her Back to Acting
Gwyneth Paltrow is famously known for portraying Pepper Potts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Robert Downey Jr‘s Iron Man’s wife. The co-stars’ friendship goes beyond the screens as Paltrow and Downey are close friends. Recently there have been rumors that the actor is returning as Iron Man in Secret Wars, which created immense buzz and questions from fans.

The Shallow Hal actress has taken a long break from eating to focus on her business and expressed no desire to return to acting. However, she mentioned that her co-star and friend Downey could probably bring her back amid his reappearing rumors. Paltrow spoke to ET at the CFDA Fashion Awards in New York on Monday and said:
“Well, it would be very hard for me to do any acting right at the moment, just because of my job. But, I guess Robert Downey Jr. could probably always get me back.”
The Shakespeare in Love star shared that her schedule remains hard at work due to her complete focus on her wellness business named Goop which decreased her thoughts on getting back to the movie world. She also lightheartedly added: “You know, to some degree.” regarding her return as Pepper Potts in the MCU. Gwyneth Paltrow and Robert Downey Jr. have starred together in numerous Marvel movies including Iron Man and Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man movies.
Gwyneth Paltrow’s Desire to Play a Much Older Pepper Potts in The MCU
Gwyneth Paltrow once shared her thoughts on reprising her role as Pepper Potts but as a much older version as her husband, Downey Jr’s Tony Stark has died. After Iron Man departs from the MCU, the Hook actress shares in The Goop Podcast along with Scarlett Johansson that she would love to get cast as old Pepper Potts. To which Johansson humorously says that Marvel would milk her character off by creating more movies, spin-offs, or merchandise featuring Paltrow’s character even after the main Avengers series concluded.
However, in a recent interview with ET, Paltrow expressed that she currently has no desire to act unless Downey Jr. tries to bring her back and said: “It’s taken a lot of hard work and perseverance, but you know, I do it with so much love, and so I’m glad to see that we’ve been able to build year over year. It’s thrilling.” Indicating that she is content and occupied with enhancing her business skills.
