Harrison Ford Breathes Sigh of Relief as Indiana Jones Finally Turns a $2M Profit after Weeks of Box Office Struggle
Harrison Ford, who gained global popularity with his role as Han Solo in the Star Wars multimedia franchise, has played the titular role in the movie Indiana Jones and its four sequels over decades. The Indiana Jones franchise has won a great number of accolades with its first installment Raiders of the Lost Ark having won the most.
The latest installment of the movie franchise, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, was released on June 30, 2023. Disney announced that it was going to be the last film of the five-movie series. While the movie had a huge budget of $295 million funded by Disney and Lucasfilm, it didn’t stand up to the expectations at the box office.

Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones Has Started Making Profits
After struggling for weeks, Harrison Ford‘s Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny has finally started earning profits. While the movie has mostly positive reviews with an audience score of 88%, it hasn’t managed to touch 80% on Rotten Tomatoes where it remains with a 68% score.
The movie is reported to have garnered a total of $302 million which isn’t all that good compared to its $295 million budget. It has earned $145 million from domestic sales and another $157 million has been brought in international ticket sales.

$302 million is a great deal of money to have been earned for a movie. However, $7 million isn’t quite enough of a profit for Disney and Lucasfilm if the budget and the additional marketing costs. Chances of the movie making a lot more profits are further diminished with the release of Tom Cruise‘s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. Not to mention Greta Gerwig‘s Barbie and Christopher Nolan‘s Oppenheimer that are going to be out soon.
Harrison Ford Is Bidding Farewell to The Franchise
Harrison Ford has decided to walk away from his legacy as Dr. Henry Walton (Indiana) Jones. He confirmed the news that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is the last time that he will be donning the whip and hat. Speaking in an interview about saying goodbye to the character, Ford said:
“I had been ambitious to do this film for 10 years, and there finally came a time when we all committed to that. It was a joyous moment for me. I think it’s a rare situation that I find myself in. I’ve been able to deliver amazing films developed by Steven [Spielberg] and George [Lucas] over a 40-year period, and to end it not with a whimper, but a bang, has been my greatest ambition for this excursion.“

Lucasfilm doesn’t seem to be interested in having a different actor play Ford’s role in the upcoming Indiana Jones movies any time soon. In that case, maybe Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who played the second-lead role of the genius archaeologist’s granddaughter Helena Shaw, will be the lead role in the next movies of this franchise.
