Hawkeye Star Hailee Steinfeld Gets Emotional Talking About Jeremy Renner’s Recovery After Life Threatening Accident
Hailee Steinfeld, an American actress, and singer who shot to fame as Mattie Ross in the 2010 western, True Grit, is incredibly proud of her Hawkeye co-star, Jeremy Renner. On Monday, the 26-year-old actress admitted to getting “emotional” when talking about Renner’s recovery from his tragic January 1 snowplow accident.
For the unversed, the 52-year-old Avengers star broke more than 30 bones as a result of the Jan 1 accident, which also caused “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries”.
Jeremy Renner, best known for playing Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has appeared in many installments of the well-known franchise. Steinfeld was his co-star in the Disney+ original series, Hawkeye. She told ET at the Sony CinemaCon presentation that there is a genuine bond between them and compared their relationship to their on-screen characters in Hawkeye.
Naturally, both have spent a significant amount on production given their close relationship. Thus, his Hawkeye co-star broke down in tears as she praised his “truly miraculous recovery,” adding that the two have remained in touch ever since the actor’s near-fatal snowplow accident on New Year’s Day.
Hailee Steinfeld Broke Silence on Jeremy Renner’s Recovery
Jeremy Renner is currently recovering from a near-fatal incident that occurred at the beginning of the year. The Marvel veteran sustained “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries” as a result of his involvement in a snowplow accident.
Renner was trying to tow a family member’s car out of the snow, as local law enforcement reported. After being moved from the spot, Renner’s 14,330-pound snowcat began to roll in his direction. Although he made an effort to control the car, he was struck by it. Soon after the accident, the actor underwent surgery and was then transferred back to the intensive care unit (ICU) in what was initially deemed to be a “critical but stable condition”.
Several of Renner’s Marvel castmates have expressed their love and support for him on social media, and now, his Hawkeye co-star has joined the list. Hailee Steinfeld revealed to Entertainment Tonight that she had reconnected with Renner after the incident and had thanked him for his quick recovery.
“I have [spoken to him]. I’m going to get emotional talking about it. I’m so grateful that he’s okay. He’s truly made a miraculous recovery. I go back to thinking about how excited I was just to meet him and then I realized very quickly, I can’t believe I’m going to admit this but I will for Jeremy: as Kate Bishop is to Clint [Barton], I am that way with Jeremy. I just couldn’t be more grateful that he’s okay. He’s more than okay. He’s such a fighter.”
Jeremy Renner Has Mentored Hailee Steinfeld On The Hawkeye Set
The Marvel spin-off series, Hawkeye, starring Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld, debuted on Disney+ in November 2021. The same year in July, Renner said to Entertainment Weekly about guiding Steinfeld on the Marvel set, saying, “That was always my role.”
The Tag actor added,
“I just wanted to protect her, because there’s a lot of physical stuff. She’s a wonderful actress, a wonderful human, and I can’t wait to see all the cool stuff that she’s able to do.”
Steinfeld and Renner shared the screen in each of the six episodes of Hawkeye on Disney+.
Well, there is no information on when Renner or Steinfeld will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it is important to note that Steinfeld is reportedly set to make an appearance in “other MCU projects” in the future.
Until then, Steinfeld will next be seen in a voice role, as she will be reprising her Gwen Stacy voice in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on June 2.
