“He came back the next day”: Howard Stern Blasts CNN for Don Lemon’s Bullsh*t Sensitivity Training, Says it Never Happened and He’s Still a Sexist
CNN’s Don Lemon recently apologized for a string of embarrassing gaffes. Lemon was removed from the show’s line-up for Monday, February 20. Many of the incidents leading to criticism of the anchor landed him and his network in an awkward position. The anchor’s dismissal for Monday is a result of a drop in ratings for CNN’s show, as well as his increasingly tumultuous relationship with the network, which raises concerns about his future. Last week, Lemon apologized for comments he made about prime time for women during a show, and the controversial remark he made during the on-air scuffle has drawn the attention of several people, both inside and outside the network.
Howard Stern mocks CNN’s attempt to cure Don Lemon
As a result of the controversy surrounding Lemon’s remark and his absence from the show on Monday, even Howard Stern of Sirius XM radio made fun of Lemon’s prompt return to CNN on Wednesday. Stern made jokes about the fact that Lemon had returned to the network on Wednesday after a three-day vacation and claimed that CNN had quickly cured him of his sexist views.
Stern made a joke about Lemon’s remark after the anchor reportedly agreed to take formal training after inciting outrage by claiming that Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime because she’s a woman.
On the episode of his SiriusXM show airing on Wednesday, Stern stated, “They took Don Lemon, they suspended him for a day, and they put him immediately into sensitivity training, and then he came back the next day, and he was all cured.” “That’s amazing. They must have an expert over there,” he joked.
After receiving criticism, the CNN host apologized for his sexist and insensitive remark. Subsequently, CNN CEO Chris Licht sent a memo informing colleagues that Lemon would continue to work for the network but get formal training.
Howard Stern joked about Don Lemon’s return on the CNN This Morning show
Lemon left the show on February 16 after making the comments, but he came back on Wednesday morning. Lemon decided to tweet an apology right away after going on the air rather than address his divisive remarks when he returned to the program.
As a result of his comments, which caused the show’s ratings to decrease, CNN decided to give Lemon a formal two-day training. Stern continued,
“I’ve been in therapy for, I believe, 30 years, and I’m still not cured. This guy went to sensitivity training in a day, and they fixed him. I would like to interview the person who does the training because this person’s a genius.”
Later on in the conversation, a producer mentioned that CNN This Morning has struggled with low ratings, which Stern responded to with another jab.
Stern made a joke:
“I guess he was trying to pump up the ratings by saying something silly,Listen, no one knows that better than me. I’ve said tons of silly things.”
In the apology shared on his Twitter account earlier in the day, Don Lemon said he was committed to doing better in the future and admitted that his previous remarks on Nikki Haley were inartful and irrelevant.
