With six nominations under various categories, Top Gun: Maverick managed to bring the Oscars home for the best sound. The Tom Cruise movie earned a whopping $1.4 billion at the box office worldwide, the movie has broken nearly all the records in entertainment history. The expectations from the spectacular movie were way beyond what one could imagine. The movie was a long-awaited sequel to the most hyped Tom Cruise and Jennifer Connely’s Top Gun which was released in 1986 and was a blockbuster back then. According to recent updates, the Jerry Maguire actor is currently busy shooting for his upcoming Mission: Impossible 8.
The burning question around the 95th Academy Awards was that- ‘Where Is Tom Cruise?’. The funny man of Hollywood, Jimmy Kimmel roasted Tom Cruise for his absence from the 2023 Oscar ceremony. The notable TV host trolled Tom Cruise and James Cameron for their absence at the Oscars. He was labeled a sore loser and was also trolled for his dedication to Scientology by Jimmy Kimmel. He sarcastically spoke-
“The two guys who insisted we go to the theatre didn’t come to the theatre.”
Tom Cruise was trolled by his fans on Twitter too. Some of them even labeled him- ‘ridiculously sensitive’. In a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, where the highly celebrated American TV host David Letterman initiated the question about Tom Cruise’s absence from the Oscars- Jimmy Kimmel went on to say-
“He should have been there, but he wasn’t there. Maybe he didn’t feel like he was going to win, so he didn’t want to come.”
The host took a dig at how the actor wasn’t nominated for Best Actor and lost Best Picture too.

The Top Gun: Maverick made waves in the industry and went on to become the second highest-grossing movie of 2022. It was the first movie of the actor to earn $1,4 Billion. The plot of the movie revolves around Pete Mitchell and his return to his grounds after 30 years of service in the Navy as an aviator. He returns back to Top Gun, bringing back the ghosts of his past as a naval pilot. The Top Gun sequel was a spectacle and was immensely loved by people globally. The Jack Reacher star was on cloud nine as the much-hyped Top Gun: Maverick won the Oscars for the best sound.
