Margot Robbie was part of the 2022 Comedy Mystery film Amsterdam. The film, directed by David O. Russell, starred Christian Bale, John David Washington, and Timothy Olyphant. The film grossed a worldwide total of $31.2 million. Robbie’s co-actor Olyphant was part of Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast. The 55-year-old, during the interview, revealed he lost a life-changing role to Chris Pine.

Olyphant was up for the role of Captain Kirk in Star Trek‘s Kelvin Timeline. J.J. Abrams revived Star Trek in 2009 with a new movie starring Chris Pine as Captain James T. Kirk. The role was previously played by William Shatner. The Justified actor confessed that if he had been around ten years younger, he probably would have been cast as Captain James T. Kirk. The actor said,

“I went in and auditioned, not for Captain Kirk, but I remember reading with J.J. Abrams, and he’s just a lovely, lovely guy, and [it was] just a lovely audition process.”

The 55-year-old revealed he went to audition for Doc but ended up auditioning for Kirk. He confessed the director was having a hard time finding the right actor for Kirk in that age range, and that’s why Abrams consider casting Olyphant. Eventually, Margot Robbie’s $80M movie co-actor lost the role to Chris Pine, and it was his age keeping him from landing a role.

The Justified: City Primeval star said,

“Somewhere along the line, J.J. called and said, ‘I found a guy younger, who’s really good. I have since then met Chris Pine, and I am a huge fan of him, both on and off-screen. I love that guy. He is a good dude.”

Chris Pine, who is 13 years younger than Olyphant, secured the role. He later returned to the part in two follow-up films, released in 2013 and 2016.
