Since a while ago, Jonathan Majors has been quietly making an impression in Hollywood with films like The Last Black Man in San Francisco and Da 5 Bloods, as well as on television, like the series Lovecraft Country.

However, the actor is now facing serious legal trouble as a result of recent news of his arrest. Majors was detained on March 25, 2023, on grounds that he may have assaulted a woman in a taxi a few days prior. According to the Manhattan district attorney’s office, the 33-year-old actor was charged with multiple offenses, including assault and severe harassment.

The woman allegedly suffered pain when “the defendant put his hand on her neck” after being struck with an open hand that hurt her earlobe.

Jonathan Majors’ Attorney Claims He’s ‘Completely Innocent’

The actor’s attorney has stepped forward to represent Jonathan Majors. According to criminal defense attorney Priya Chaudhry, the Creed III actor is “completely innocent and probably the victim” in the recent assault case. He was detained on suspicion of assault and harassment on Saturday in Manhattan, which the New York Police Department called a “domestic dispute.” But he was later freed.

In addition, Chaudhry disclosed that there is video evidence from the car where the incident occurred, witness accounts from the driver and bystanders, as well as two written denials from the woman.

Chaudhry further claimed,

“All the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever. He [Jonathan Majors] is the victim of an altercation with a woman.”

This woman reportedly was experiencing an emotional crisis, for which she was taken to a hospital, and sadly that was what caused this incident to occur.

“The NYPD is required to make an arrest in these situations, and this is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested. We expect these charges to be dropped soon.”

In the NYPD’s statement, strangulation, assault, and harassment were listed as possible charges; however, Majors was only charged with two counts of third-degree assault.

In the meantime, the recently launched US Army advertising campaign, which was intended to revive the service’s struggling recruiting numbers, has been upended by the news of ‌his arrest. According to a statement made public on Sunday by the US Army’s Enterprise Marketing Office, they were “deeply concerned” by the accusations and were aware of his arrest.

For the unfamiliar, Majors was the narrator for two commercials that served as the centerpiece of a larger media campaign that began at the start of the NCAA March Madness college basketball tournament.
