The former So You Think You Can Dance contestant, The Ellen DeGeneres Show DJ, and executive producer Stephen ‘tWitch‘ Boss committed suicide at 40. According to reports, he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Tuesday, December 13. The death of her longtime friend and colleague Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss devastates Ellen DeGeneres.

It is well known that Stephen Boss and the talk show host formed a close and famous bond before DJ’s untimely demise. They met before the DJ tWitch appeared on her show as a guest DJ in 2011. DJ tWitch stayed with the talk show host and comedian until the end of the show in 2022 and their friendship until his passing. During the 2014 season of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Stephen Boss appeared as a guest DJ and became the show’s in-house DJ. He was promoted to executive producer in 2020 and stepped in as guest host during Ellen DeGeneres’ absence.

Ellen DeGeneres Devastated By Stephen ‘tWitch‘ Boss’s Demise

The daytime talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show host Ellen DeGeneres and the same show’s in-house DJ, Stephen ‘tWitch‘ Boss, was like a family to each other. The talk show host was stunned to hear this unfortunate news after sharing a close bond with the DJ.

The host and comedian posted a picture of the pair hugging on Wednesday on her Instagram account and captioned it with a heartfelt note,

“I’m heartbroken. tWitch was pure love and light. He was my family, and I loved him with all my heart. I will miss him. Please send your love and support to Allison and his beautiful children – Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia.”

She paid a heart-touching tribute to his long-time friend, and with a heavy heart, she extended support to his wife and children.

In one of the final episodes of the talk show in May 2022, DeGeneres paid tribute to Stephen by saying,

“Over a decade ago, I met someone who changed my life — and our show,” and continued, “I love you so much, and it’s been an emotional week.”

She added,

“You always make me smile and laugh, and anyway, we put together a little something together just to say how much we all love you here.”

DeGeneres was a huge fan of the DJ when he appeared as a contestant in the show So You Think You Can Dance, and she always wanted to dance with him. Later, she admitted that they bonded over learning to dance together.

A freestyle hip-hop dancer, choreographer, actor, television producer, and television personality, Stephen Laurel ‘tWitch’ Boss was best known as DJ tWitch. Despite the fame and having a loving family, he committed suicide on Tuesday at age 40. Allison Holker, DJ’s wife, reported that her husband had left his house without his car, something he never does, and she was concerned.

Law enforcement sources reported that his body was found in a Los Angeles hotel room. His cause of death was reportedly a self-inflicted gunshot wound. There were social media mourning posts and debates over mental health issues after losing another gem of the entertainment world.

Allison Holker confirmed the news to PEOPLE and said,

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share that my husband Stephen has left us. Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends, and community above all else, and leading with love and the light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”

The couple first connected in 2010, and both appeared in the dance show So You Think You Can Dance. After getting married in 2013 in Paso Robles, California, they have three children: daughters Weslie and Zaia and son Maddox.
