Marc Jobst reveals honest reasons for Henry Cavill’s exit from The Witcher
In a candid interview with Games Radar, the director who has directed multiple episodes of The Witcher talked about why Henry Cavill has decided to take a leave from the show.
Talking about this Jobst revealed that the physically demanding nature of Cavill’s role is the reason why he made this decision. He also said that Cavill was determined to do all of his stunts on his own which indeed made his performance stand out but at the same time, it also drained him out physically.
“Look, Henry has done three series, these are demanding shows to make, you know, they are huge. Henry does every single beat of his stunts, he won’t even allow a hand if you’re doing a close-up of a hand grabbing a sword, it has to be his hand,” said Marc Jobst.
Apart from this Jobst also praised Cavill’s work and said how he trusted his decision. Talking about his work Jobst said it was Cavill’s hard work that brought the show into being and how he put all of his efforts to make sure that every scene was not just enough but fantastic. Jobst also said that he feels that Cavill has given his 100% to the show and he completely trusts his decision to quit it.
“That’s draining on your number one, so after three series, I feel, ‘Okay, he’s brought the show into being, and if he feels like he’s done what he can, I trust him,’” Jobst, who has directed multiple episodes of the series, said. Jobst further said, “That focus that he has, that desire to get it right, is a gift to work with because it elevates everybody to say, ‘Good enough isn’t good enough. It’s got to be fantastic.’”
Even though fans are saddened by the exit of Henry Cavill from the show, many are happy and excited to see Liam Hemsworth in his place.
