MrBeast Lashes Out At Streaming Platform Twitch

Twitch is an American live video streaming platform and it focuses mostly on video game live streaming, broadcasting esports competitions, music broadcasts, and content creation. Introduced in June 2011 as a spin-off of Justin.tv, Twitch is operated by Twitch Interactive and is a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc.

In October 2021, Twitch was attacked by a hacker and suffered data leak and in 2022, it announced that it would be reducing the subscription revenue earned by large streamers. The new change, expected to be effective from June 1, 2023, means that the premium streamers would keep 70% of the first $100,000 earned from subscriptions, post which their cut would be lowered to 50%.

Though current CEO, Clancy claimed that 90% of streamers would not be against or be negatively impacted by the revenue reduction, but the change is garnering criticism from many streamers. Recently, famous YouTuber, MrBeast tweeted, Hey @Twitch how about instead of handicapping what creators make, you help them make more? Seems more logical.

Apart from MrBeast some of the other major streamers who are not happy with the recent set of changes are Asmongold, Cr1TiKaL, and Zentreya. Many other streamers are also considering quitting the platform or organizing boycotts.
