Henry Cavill’s praises for Argylle co-star Dua Lipa
Henry Cavill stars in Matthew Vaughn’s spy action comedy movie; Argylle alongside Dua Lipa, John Cena, Samuel L. Jackson, Bryce Dallas Howard, and more. Talking to Screen Rant about his approach to the character, he said,
“I didn’t specifically draw any inspiration from anywhere else. I think the line to walk on this one was Argylle, without spoiling too much. He takes himself very seriously because his situation is very much real and heart-attack serious in his head.”
Argylle follows Elle Conway, author of best-selling espionage novels about secret agents; Argylle whose mission is to unravel a global spy syndicate. The line between fiction and reality begins to blur after the plots of her novel start to mirror the actions of a real-life spy organization and have caught the attention of many interested parties. Henry Cavill plays the debonair hero of her novel.
Cavill, further in the conversation, mentioned that as far as the tone of the movie is concerned, he’s not taking Argylle too seriously, adding that it’s a fine line to tread between the two. He explained,
“If you’re playing it too realistic and too naturalistic, then it sort of spoils the joke, so you have to play a very serious but heightened version of that for it to fit in the tone of the movie. That was my focus.”
In his conversation with Digital Spy, the actor did not forget to praise his co-star Dua Lipa, who plays LaGrange in the movie. He shared,
“She was marvelous to work with, good fun and game for it well. I didn’t know what to expect with Dua Lipa, she’s one of the biggest pop stars in the world and you don’t know whether that person is going to come on with the sense of grandeur to them. But she was there on time, gave her 100% and was game for anything.”
Cavill added that he was impressed with Dua Lipa’s dedication to the movie, noting that he had a wonderful time working with her.
Argylle releases in theatres on February 2.
