Margaret Ruth Kidder, better known as Margot Kidder, is well-known for portraying Lois Lane in the first four films of the Superman film franchise from 1978 to 1987. Although she had taken up acting as a profession as early as 1968, Kidder did not gain recognition until she starred as Lois Lane alongside Christopher Reeve’s Superman.

Within a month of reading lines, Margot Kidder was cast in 1978’s Superman which received great critical appreciation and grossed $300.5 million worldwide. The movie was also nominated for numerous accolades including three Academy Awards. Christopher Reeve’s legacy was passed on to Henry Cavill in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel in 2013, and Kidder drew a rather amusing comparison between the two actors.

In an interview with Heyuguys, Kidder said:

“I think there was a cynical decision on the part of the studios, which are now owned by multi-national conglomerates just like everything else on the planet.
