Dolly Parton says she is glad that her husband Carl Dean isn’t in the same business she is. Dolly Parton says not to lose oneself in the marriage.

“And I think humor, honestly, is one of the best things when you’re married like that. Even if you have a problem, if you have a great sense of humor, if you say something you can’t take back [you] usually have some crazy way of getting out of it.”

In the true meet-cute fashion, the couple bumped into each other at a laundromat in Nashville in 1965. Parton was fairly new to the game and had moved there just recently. The rest was something out of a fairy tale, well, a much more realistic one. Keeping a relationship intact for so long takes hard work and a lot of effort. Respecting each other through it all comes first on the list, even before love.
The couple is now 56 years strong and there’s no slowing down. There might be a speed bump here and there, but there’s nothing they can’t handle now after spending more than half a century together.
Dolly Parton is planning a surprise her beloved husband in her upcoming album.
“He loves all of the songs. And I haven’t told him yet who I’m going to have on. I don’t even know myself, who all is going to be on it. But he’ll love it. I’m doing so many of his favorite songs on the album, so I’ll play it to him when it’s all done,”
