August Alsina’s claims about being in a relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith
Singer August Alsina, who was introduced to Jada Pinkett Smith in 2015 by her son Jaden Smith, became friends with the actress and they became so close that the singer even traveled to Hawaii with the Smiths for their vacation in 2016. The duo the following year attended the BET Awards together.
Back in 2020, the singer, during an interview with Angela Yee on YouTube, claimed that he was romantically involved with Jada Pinkett Smith. He said,
“I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life, and I truly and really, really deeply love and have a ton of love for her. I devoted myself to it, I gave my full self to it — so much so to the point that I can die right now and be okay with knowing that I truly gave myself to somebody.”
In July 2020, during an episode of Red Table Talk, the actress addressed the claims to her husband, Will Smith, beside her as she said,
“Four and a half years ago … I started a friendship with August and we actually became really, really good friends. And it all started with him just needing some help, me wanting to help his health, his mental state. We found all those different resources to help pull him through and from there you and I were going through a very difficult time.”
Jada clarified that she and Will Smith had decided to separate for some time. She also added, “We were over. From there, as time went on, I got into a different kind of entanglement with August. Back in 2018, the singer posted a picture of Jada Pinkett Smith’s birthday with a caption that read via People, “I don’t believe in luck. I believe in God’s divine order And you are an example of God’s divinity in Its covering over my life. A beautifully complex individual you are … I could spend a lifetime decoding you.”
The actress, in response to the post, said that she has watched him fight for his health, his sobriety, and for the meaning of life, adding that she is very proud of him and she has got all the love for him in the world and wishes everything best for him.
The singer then went on to raise some more eyebrows after he decided to remix Kehlani’s song Nunya and the video featured texts with a woman named Koren, which happened to be Jada Pinkett Smith’s middle name and he sent a GIF of the actress to the woman after singing ‘You’re just an actress putting on a show’.
In his interview with Angela Yee, the singer claimed that Will Smith had given him the blessings to be romantically involved with his wife. He said via We Got This Covered, “I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation about the transformation from their marriage to life partnership … he gave me his blessing.” It is something that Pinkett Smith denied during her candid talk with Will Smith on Red Table Talk.
Jada Pinkett Smith admits her relationship with August Alsina was born out of pain
While talking to Will Smith on an episode of Red Table Talk, Jada Pinkett Smith revealed that even though she was in a different kind of entanglement with August, it was born out of the fact that she was in a lot of pain and felt very broken.
The actress noted that it made her realize that one cannot find happiness outside of them. August Alsina shared with Vulture via We Got This Covered at the time that, since he revealed their complicated relationship, he has not been in contact with the actress, but pointed out that it did not mean that it affected his relationship with the family.
He explained, “I don’t have an issue with anybody. I love everybody. I love all of them/ They’ve been my family, and there’s a lot of history there. They’re beautiful people. They’re beautiful spirits. They really are. There’s no bad blood with anybody.”
While the Smiths moved on from the situation, the singer seemingly isn’t done talking about the actress as he released a song Shake the World in 2022 in which he spoke about his entanglement with Pinkett Smith. At the SAG Awards 2022, when they appeared on the red carpet, they were asked if they were involved in any more entanglements to which they said no more of those.
