The Deadpool test footage wasn’t just a leaked clip—it became a huge hit. Fans got so excited that they pushed hard for a full movie, when the 2014 film was stuck between editing and its release. The studio was so impressed by the reaction that they had no choice but to greenlight the film.

It Took Years For Ryan Reynolds to Admit It

For years, Ryan Reynolds had been teasing his role in the leak with playful hints. But it was the pressure of a lie detector test that finally made him admit the truth. When Hugh Jackman asked him directly if he was involved in the leak during a Vanity Fair lie detector interview, his co-star tried to sidestep the question. Yet, the looming lie detector made him confess.

Reynolds first dodged the question by saying, “That’s a great question,” and then tried to pass on answering. Jackman reminded him that he was connected to a lie detector, so he couldn’t skip the question.

The Canadian actor jokingly complained about the situation and said he could cause chaos if he wanted to, but then pretended to forget the question. The lie detector operator insisted he give an answer. The Deadpool actor then admitted:

Well, for f*ck’s sakes. I mean, I might have provided an assist.

With a blend of confidence and humor, Reynolds admitted he was the “Scottie Pippen” in the leak—he helped out but didn’t actually post the footage.

Ryan Reynolds earlier took to social media in 2018 to express his frustration over a leaked test footage that eventually led to the green light for the Deadpool movie.

Marking the fourth anniversary of the leak, the star posted a message on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “Still searching for the bastard who leaked our test footage onto the internet,” and declared that he was taking over the investigation himself with a hashtag reading #Angry.

Reynolds seemed determined to find out who was behind the leak. But now it looks like he was the one behind it all and had been playing it out for years.
