Hugh Grant who is known for his outstanding performance in movies like Love Actually, Dungeons & Dragons, and many more had his career trajectory filled with ups and downs.  Just like any other actor, even Hugh Grant had to go through a lot of rejections and struggles in the early days of his acting career.

Recalling his early days as an actor Grant stated that he mostly did movies that paid him highly, but none of them had a good script. He also said that all of his European projects at that time were awful and never got a proper release. Eventually, his entire acting career started with pretty bad projects and whenever he used to get a good script, he thought that it was a mistake. However, this was not only his assumption but the harsh reality for Grant at that time.

Talking about the same Grant recalled the time when the script of Jerry Maguire was accidentally sent to him, which was for none other than Tom Cruise.

During his interview with Fresh Air recalling all of this Hugh Grant said,

“Things were in a pretty bad state in terms of proper acting for me and then the script came through and I remember calling my agent and saying, ‘I think there’s been a mistake because you sent me a good script’. “And they did have a track record of doing that. They’d done it once before. And I’d called and said, ‘Hang on, this is good. And you sure it was meant for me?’ And they’d said, ‘No, sorry. This is meant for Tom Cruise.’ That was Jerry Maguire.”

Even though this moment seems hilarious for Grant at this point in his career, back then seeing Tom Cruise getting paid $20 million for Jerry Maguire was just humiliating.
