Hugh Grant Gets Trolled for Being Salty About His ‘Wonka’ Role Despite Portraying the Iconic Oompa Loompa
Wonka is set to have its highly anticipated release this month. While the lead role of the movie is being played by Timothee Chalamet, what stands out about the movie is Hollywood star Hugh Grant in the orange Oompa Loompa form.
While one would’ve expected Hugh Grant to have enjoyed being part of Wonka, it looks like he wasn’t very happy with the role. The same has led to an outburst of criticism on social media as Grant’s comments have come just a few days ahead of the release.
Fans troll Hugh Grant for being salty about his role in Wonka
It is worth noting that Hugh Grant is no stranger to grumpy outbursts. The actor does not enjoy shooting CGI sequences and has been vocal about it in the past. The same happened recently when he opined on how creating his crotchety Oompa Loompa was like wearing a “crown of thorns” because of the camera rig around his head. He said (Via Metro):
“It was like a crown of thorns, very uncomfortable. I couldn’t have hated the whole thing more.”
Reacting to the statement made by Hugh Grant, fans on social media have trolled the Hollywood actor. While many fans were not surprised by what Grant had to say, others believe that making such statements so close to the release is unacceptable. Take a look at some of the reactions below:
this is the kind of thing most actors would say 10 years after the film released in an actors to actors interview not 10 days before the release day but https://t.co/K7nAoQzu5i

Does he ever like his job?

He always complains about something or the other but he's still funny, delightfully sarcastic and does a great job in all his films. He is also the first to admit that he can get grumpy on set, as he did with Dungeons and Dragons, and he apologised to the person in question.

More details about Wonka
Wonka starring Timothee Chalamet as the titular character is a prequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory based on the book of the same name by Roald Dahl and is being directed by Paul King. There have been two adaptations of the story so far with the first one coming back in 1971 which was directed by Gene Wilder and the other a revision in 2005 by Tim Burton starring Johnny Depp as the titular chocolatier.
The upcoming prequel will explore Wonka’s younger years. He will be seen venturing out to find the community of Oompa Loompa and hire them for his chocolate factory. The film is slated to release on the 8th of December. That said, it will be interesting to see how the movie performs at the global box office.
