Mark Wahlberg is one of the prominent actors in Hollywood but his road to fame as an actor has obviously not been as easy as one might think. From his 1993 television film debut in The Substitute to Martin Scorsese’s 2006 movie The Departed, Wahlberg has left no stone unturned in show business.

It is not uncommon for actors to change their appearances according to the needs of the role they are going to play in an upcoming project. Mark Wahlberg stood no exception to this. In fact, one of his transformations was so intense that his wife and the director of the movie Transformers Michael Bay were freaked out.

The Boogie Nights star became a part of the Transformers series after Shia La Beouf bid adieu to the franchise. Transformers director Michael Bay was less than impressed by Wahlberg’s drastic weight loss. The actor recounted Bay’s distress (via CP24), saying:

“He goes, ‘You look like crap! What are you going to do? We’ve got to shoot in five weeks. I probably put on 40 pounds back. But it still wasn’t enough for him. He said, ‘Aw, I’ve got to shoot you like this to make you look cool again.’ He [Michael Bay] is a perfectionist. He was more upset than my wife. I mean, my wife was a little freaked out that I was losing this much weight, but he was really freaked out.”

Mark Wahlberg’s daughter had a very intriguing reaction to her father’s weight transformation as she said that he should have become a bodybuilder instead of an actor.

The Lone Survivor star was the thinnest he has ever been in the movie The Gambler. He weighed only 137 pounds when he starred in the movie, and this had some noticeable side effects on his body. Wahlberg detailed his condition, saying (via Contact Music):

“[I had] no energy, no nutrition, and the studio, there was a complaint about that, that my lips were always looking blue. What the f*** do you want me to do? I haven’t eaten anything! If you make them red, I’m going to look weird, like I’ve got lipstick on, so it is what it is.”

Wahlberg being a huge foodie did not help his case because he became insufferable while he was working on The Gambler. Thankfully, he managed to gain back all the weight he shed and is healthy now.
