Hugh Grant established himself as the king of romantic comedies with high-grossing films like Notting Hill, Bridget Jones’s Diary, Four Weddings and a Funeral, and many more. Grant was the ultimate heartthrob in the ’90s. The Golden Globe awardee largely played quintessential British characters. And he is a true Brit at heart. There aren’t many things that the British take as seriously as their tea.

Commonly there are five love languages but in the UK, there are six. The bond between two people who know exactly how the other person likes their tea and manages to make it is peak intimacy.

Hugh Grant, who shares an otherwise good friendship with Sandra Bullock, sadly could not find a common brewing ground.

Out of the several assumptions made about celebrities, or nationality stereotypes for that matter; the truest one might be the love Britishers have for a cuppa. Not only that, they are known to be notoriously meticulous about how they like their tea. Differences of opinion when tea is involved can really make or break any relationship.

Hugh Grant once had to put up with Sandra Bullock‘s horrendous (by English standards) tea-making skills. In a viral video posted to TikTok by Buzzfeed UK, the Love Actually actor commented on how utterly disappointing his Two Weeks Notice co-star is when it comes to making a cup of tea.

Grant wasn’t hesitant about bashing Bullock calling her teas undrinkable. The British actor had to help his American friend by teaching her how to make a perfect cuppa.

Tea is apparently something the Notting Hill star is a little too passionate about. That is the only possible explanation of how he ended up discussing the nuances of the art of tea-making in the middle of a promotional interview. While promoting his film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Grant found himself complaining about the lack of education on important procedures of tea-making in America. That is something that caused him a lot of pain.

While doing so, Grant dropped the recipe of how he likes his tea. The Hollywood actor said cow milk is the only acceptable milk in a cuppa. No alternative milks. Moreover, the water used for teabags should be scorching hot to get the aroma of the tea.

Now if you ever find yourself in a position of making a cup of tea for Hugh Grant, you know how to impress him.
