- Kevin Feige talks about Hugh Jackman's future in Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Directed by Justin Baldoni, Blake Lively’s upcoming romantic drama It Ends With Us, starring Baldoni and Brandon Sklenar, is based on Colleen Hoover’s 2016 novel of the same name. The movie’s screenplay is written by Christy Hall and follows Lily Bloom’s life in Boston, which gets entangled when her current boyfriend Ryle Kincaid comes face-to-face with her first love, Atlas Corrigan.
Blake Lively is thrilled about the movie’s release, and so is her husband Ryan Reynolds, and his best friend Hugh Jackman. Reynolds & Jackman recently appeared in their highly awaited Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine, which has received positive comments from the critics as well as the audience. But their recent interview with Lively’s co-actor has caught the audience’s attention.
Hugh Jackman jokes he’s found the next Wolverine in Blake Lively-starrer It Ends With Us’ co-star Brandon Sklenar
Hugh Jackman recently appeared as Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine alongside Ryan Reynolds. He not only received praise for his work, but also made fans emotional with his return as Wolverine after seven years. It is no hidden fact that the actor is a friend of Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively, and Reynolds is a marketing genius when it comes to his projects. So, Jackman also jumped upon the opportunity to be a part of his genius plans.
Blake Lively received support from husband Reynolds, mother-in-law Tammy Reynolds, and friend Jackman ahead of the release of her movie It Ends With Us. The movie stars Justin Baldoni and Brandon Sklenar alongside the actress and Reynolds, Reynolds’ mom, and Jackman decided to crash Sklenar’s interview. In a clip shared, the three of them who had appeared to support Lively and diss Sklenar ended up having a crush on the actor, who plays the love interest of the actress in the upcoming movie.
Deadpool & Wolverine actors along with Tammy Reynolds put Sklenar in an uncomfortable spot by asking questions while the actor sits there waiting for the interview to end. Reynolds appeared first and said, ‘It’s not every day the husband gets to interview his wife’s love interest in a film. It’s kind of crazy.‘ After Ryan, Tammy Reynolds appears, telling the actor,
It’s not every day the mother-in-law of the leading lady gets to interview the love interest and the man trying to replace my sweet little gummy bear, Ryan.
Tammy Reynolds very subtly told Sklenar that Reynolds’ father passed away in 2015, hinting that the Canadian actor would like to have a new dad. Lastly, Hugh Jackman appeared, asking the It Ends With Us actor, ‘What the hell are you doing messing with my best buddy’s wife?’ Sklenar, however, adds,
Sir, I have no idea what’s happening at all today, but I do have to say while I have you here: Your work in Les Misérables…What a triumph! I mean, you can do it all. You’re a unicorn.
The video ends with all three of them fawning over Brandon Sklenar as they end up wearing sweaters that match the actor. Jackman ended the video by saying, ‘I think we found the next Wolverine’.
Jackman’s comments come after the buzz around his future in the MCU has started to stir up. It also goes on to show that the actor is not scared or holding too tight to the character he reprised after seven years, and seemed okay with passing it on. As for Lively and Reynolds, they have been supportive of Jackman since he announced his separation from Deborra-Lee, so it seems sweet for the actor to make an effort to promote her movie.
Marvel president Kevin Feige reveals Hugh Jackman’s future in MCU
Ahead of the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, Marvel President Kevin Feige spoke to Discussing Films about Hugh Jackman’s future in the MCU. He said,
Marvel is celebrating its 85th anniversary later this summer. That’s just the first 85 years, and Disney just celebrated 100 years as well. I think these characters will be around for another 100 years, long after all of us. So, for sure, there will be eventually another actor as Wolverine.
Fiege noted that according to his understanding, whoever takes up Wolverine after Jackman, will be in a very different style and in a different way. He added that the next person/actor who takes over Wolverine should not attempt to do Jackman’s impression of the character because that would be a bad idea.
Post not foundHe added that it would be fun to explore different versions of Wolverine down the line, clarifying that they do not have any immediate plans and no one is going to be as great as Hugh Jackman.
Deadpool & Wolverine is playing in cinemas.
It Ends With Us comes out on August 9, 2024.
