Eric Bana’s Hulk movie came out in 2003 when the Marvel Cinematic Universe didn’t launch officially. The film titled Hulk was directed by Ang Lee, and since it couldn’t receive a sequel despite discussions about it, Bana couldn’t join the MCU after it was initiated by Iron Man in 2008.

During an interview with Fifi, Fev & Nick for Breakfast (via Comic Book), the actor was asked to share his thoughts over reprising his role of the green Goliath by a multiverse event that occurred in the Spider-Man movie. The Deliver Us From Evil star said:

“I can’t see it. I can’t see it.”

After hearing Bana’s response, the hosts got the opportunity to praise the actor’s physique which is a huge requirement for portraying Hulk, to which Eric Bana says:

“Well… CGI man. [Laughter] You don’t really need [it]. Lot of steroids there. [More Laughter]”

Even though Bana clarified that there’s barely any potential for his return and collaboration with Mark Ruffalo and Edward Norton, the idea of crafting Hulk: No Way Home is enough to excite the Marvel fans since their enthusiasm seems to have taken a back seat lately.

Is Marvel Planning For Mark Ruffalo’s Standalone Hulk Movie?

Since Eric Bana has no plans for entering the MCU through a multiverse event, there have been speculations about Mark Ruffalo getting a standalone film of his character. As Ruffalo’s Hulk has become one of the major figures in the superhero world, he has remained tight-lipped about the potential standalone movie.

Even though there has been no official announcement about a standalone Hulk movie, since Mark Ruffalo has played the character for years, he expressed hope and desire for a future project that focuses on the indestructible avenger. In an interview with Comic Book, the actor said:

“Not that I know of. I’ve been asked not to comment on it, that specifically. Hopefully one day they’ll work it out. I think it could be really cool and I’ve been putting a lot of thought into what it could be to be cool, but I don’t know yet.”

Despite not making a solo Hulk project, Marvel has introduced the giant’s cousin Jennifer Walters, or She-Hulk. The character is portrayed by Tatiana Maslany, and her Disney+ series titled She-Hulk: Attorney at Law became a successful project.

Eric Bana’s Hulk is currently streaming on the Starz app.
