“I almost want a story without Ned or MJ”: Latest Spider-Man 4 Rumor is the Dream Scenario for Many Fans Who Want Tom Holland to Truly Shine
- 'Spider-Man 4' is expected to focus more on Peter Parker's journey as a solo hero.
- Netizens react to the possibility of less involvement from characters like Ned, MJ, and Happy Hogan.
- With the Venom symbiote's presence in the MCU, 'Spider-Man 4' might explore a darker side of the character.
The MCU’s Spider-Man trilogy has been the most successful franchise from Sony’s superhero universe lately, amid the other failing movies. The last installment, Spider-Man: No Way Home, was a proper fan service film that brought in 3 generations of superheroes together.
However, all the movies in the trilogy have their own drawbacks, which are disliked by fans. But since No Way Home created a completely different scenario for both Peter Parker and Spider-Man, it gives a chance to the creators to rectify one problem that made Spidey less of a hero.
Spider-Man 4 Will Be More of a Solo Movie
In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spidey was quite literally like an intern for Tony Stark throughout most of the movie. The story took place after Captain America: Civil War and Peter Parker got back to Queens and was struggling to get back to his superhero life where he felt needed enough.
In most of the movie, he was using Stark tech for his superhero tasks. Later, when Jacob Batalon‘s Ned found out his identity, he became his sidekick. He almost became like what Alfred is for Batman, helping him with tech and to guide him through his missions.
In Far From Home, Zendaya‘s MJ also found out Spidey’s identity, and became a helping hand for Spider-Man, along with Ned and Happy Hogan. Although it all fit with Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man’s storyline that MCU was going with at that time, the hardcore fans of the character didn’t like it that much.
In comics, Spider-Man has always been more of a solo hero than a team worker. Moreover, he tries to keep away his loved ones from his fights, and that’s the reason he hardly reveals his identity to anyone except MJ.
But according to scooper MyTimeToShineHello, fans might get back what they want to see in Spider-Man 4, as it will be about Spidey fighting a villain in New York City. It suggests that there will be less involvement of sidekicks, which has definitely excited many fans online.
I dig it. I almost want a story without Ned and MJ to just let Peter be Spider-Man and figure shit out.

No they should break it after secret wars by the time Spider Man 5 and 6 comes out just make a tom holland spider man movie without Ned and MJ for once! Because No Way Home really in a way rebooted Peter Parker and Spider Man as characters.

I was really hoping for the next trilogy to be a clean slate and not bring MJ or Ned back. No Way Home ended perfectly for that to happen. Nothing to hold them back from exploring a fresh, standalone Spider-Man trilogy. https://t.co/bN8eVzys0J

It can be said that so far, it was about Peter Parker’s story. But Spider-Man 4 will be about Spider-Man, the hero, not the high school teenager who occasionally faces problems. With everyone forgetting Peter Parker’s identity, his superhero identity will be the only thing that will connect the old stories with the new ones.
How Peter Parker’s Friends Can Be Featured in Spider-Man 4
Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s ending showed Peter Parker sacrificing his identity as Doctor Strange casts the spell that made everyone forget Parker. It also showed Ned and MJ going to MIT while Parker was still in New York. This gave rise to the question of whether they will be seen anymore.
Although they have no memories of Parker, they still remember the moments they spent with Spider-Man. However, they might not remember how they always ended up being close to Spider-Man, but it will still serve as a way for them to be included in Spider-Man 4.
Meanwhile, Parker being alone again might need some help, which might again put him in front of Ned, MJ, or Hogan. And Parker’s friends got to know Happy Hogan only through Spider-Man, which again ties up all Spidey sidekicks. So, in a way, there are still chances of featuring Ned and MJ, although their screen time will be much less this time.
There has been no confirmation of the Spider-Man 4 cast so far. It is expected that the movie will be released before Avengers: Doomsday. The villain is still unclear, but there is a venom remnant in Spidey’s universe, and assuming his difficult mental state after No Way Home, the symbiote might play a role in enhancing it, showing a darker side of Spider-Man.
The latest Spider-Man trilogy is available to stream on Netflix.
