“I… appreciate a good slap of approval”: The Boys Star Who Was Brutally Slapped On Screen in Episode 5 Finally Breaks Silence
Just like Netflix’s Bridgerton and FX’s The Bear, Amazon Prime too dropped a new season of The Boys, which is one of the most beloved shows on the streaming service. The audience has been having a blast with this new season with new cameos and other exciting stuff.
The fifth episode of this new season sees actor P. J. Byrne’s character, director Adam Bourke, suffer from humiliation at the hands of the character Bonnie, literally. However, it was actually all Homelander and his son Ryan’s doing. Recently, Byrne has opened up about the scene on his social media.
The Boys Star P. J. Byrne Opened Up About the Humiliating Scene in Season 4
P. J. Byrne, who almost became an investment banker, began his career as an actor with small roles in films like Bruce Almighty and Bewitched. His supporting roles in Final Destination 5 and The Wolf of Wall Street earned him more recognition as both of these movies did well on the commercial and critical fronts.
In 2018, he starred alongside Dwayne Johnson in the action movie Rampage. He has been appearing as a recurring guest in the satirical superhero TV series The Boys. He plays the role of film director Adam Bourke who works for Vought International, a powerful and influential corporation that manages and markets superheroes.
In the fifth episode of Season 4, Adam is humiliated by the show’s villain Homelander, and his son Ryan for mistreating PA Bonnie. Ryan asks Adam to get on his knees and apologize to her. Homelander suggests that Adam should be taught a lesson and tells Bonnie to slap him repeatedly. Byrne took to his X handle recently to address this.
Byrne seems to have taken the scene in stride and even appreciated the actors’ phenomenal performance. The scene has certainly got everyone talking as Homelander and Ryan sharing a chilling smile is probably all the evidence needed to prove they are father and son.
P. J. Byrne and Will Ferrell Shot an Unscripted Kiss
The new season has cameos from some A-list celebrities, and one of them is Will Ferrell, who appeared as an actor in a parody movie with A-Train. Ferrell, no stranger to kissing men for comedic effect, locked lips with Byrne in the episode.
In an interview with The Wrap, creator Eric Kripke addressed the kiss that never made it to the screens.
As you can imagine, both of those guys are world-class improvisers. We have so much film of them riffing and trying different things. At one point, they make out.
Kripke said there is a lot of footage of the two actors improvising the scenes, and all of it could not be included in the show. So, maybe the viewers will get the chance to see the kiss and those other scenes in the special features or deleted scenes video.
The Boys is available for streaming on Amazon Prime.
