Stephen Colbert is among the most popular hosts in America; the concept of his famous show, The Late Show, is what attracts most of its viewers. Colbert shares his views on trending news gives updates to his audience, and conducts interviews with his celebrity guests. This week, he invites E.T. film director Steven Spielberg. The show’s host asked him about the recent sudden surge in UFO spottings. The Academy Award winner has a lot of opinions regarding the same. Although he admits that he has never seen an actual alien or UFO, his interest in the subject has recently been piqued. He started by saying, “I think it’s mathematically impossible that we are the only intelligent species in the cosmos. That’s impossible. It is exciting.”

He added: “There is something out there. I do not know if I am a believer in the sense that I am the kind of person that would think I have got to see something like that to believe it. I can make up stuff and make movies about things I have never seen or experienced. That is fine. In terms of really believing something, I would have to have my own close encounter.”

E.T.  the Extra-Terrestrial movie director then explained how there is a slight possibility that there is more in this universe than we know, but he argued that, besides never having eyewitnessed anything, his mind often wonders around those crazy theories about aliens. He said,

“I’ve never seen a UFO, I wish I had! I’ve never seen anything I can’t explain. But I believe certain people who have seen things that they can’t explain. I think what has been coming up recently is fascinating, absolutely fascinating. And I think the secrecy that is shrouding all of these sightings and the lack of transparency… I think there is something going on that just needs extraordinary due diligence.”

Spielberg also shares how he found the idea of aliens mind-blowing that they could travel to Earth. The director said, “It almost seems impossible that anybody would visit us from 400 million light years from here except in the movies – unless it figures out some way of basically jumping the shark and getting here through wormholes.”
