Lili Reinhart thinks her 2022 Met Gala might have been her last! The Riverdale actress shared how she believes she won’t be asked back to fashion’s biggest night after criticizing the weight loss tactic Kim Kardashian used to be able to fit into one of Marilyn Monroe’s iconic dresses. The actress reflected on her decision to call out stars who partake in these methods—without mentioning Kardashian by name—in a May 3 Instagram Stories post.
“That was fun,” Reinhart, 26, told W. Magazine in a recent interview published on Wednesday, October 26, of attending the event. She explained, “But after going again this year, I don’t think I’ll be invited back. I said a certain something about a certain person in a certain dress.” The 26-year-old star called Kim Kardashian’s preparations for the met Gala fit ‘problematic’ for young girls struggling with their body image.

Kim Kardashian sparked backlash at the 2022 Met Gala for a multitude of reasons. She shared about how she had to take a proper strict diet, only to fit into Marilyn Monroe’s famous ‘Happy Birthday’ dress from 1962. The SKIMS founder told Vogue while on the red carpet that to prepare herself for the event, “I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein.”
In an interview with Allure, Kardashian explained that losing about 16 pounds in three weeks in order to fit into the iconic Marilyn Monroe dress at the 2022 Met Gala contributed to a “really painful” psoriasis flare-up. But while she specifically noted that “I didn’t starve myself, but I was so strict,” Lili Reinhart disagreed with the Kardashians star’s extreme dieting in order to wear a dress.

The Look Both Ways actress reflected on her decision to call out stars who partake in these methods—without mentioning Kim Kardashian by name—in a May 3 Instagram Stories post, explaining, “To openly admit to starving yourself for the sake of the Met Gala. When you know very well that millions of young men and women are looking up to you and listening to your every word. The ignorance is other-worldly disgusting.”
“Please stop supporting these stupid, harmful celebrities whose entire image revolves around their bodies,” she wrote. “I am not generally an angry person but I swear to god, the toxicity of this industry sometimes really gets to me.” The Hustlers star never called out Kim Kardashian by name, but it was pretty clear through her words that the harsh criticism was directed towards the Kardashian.
Lili Reinhart does not regret anything she said about Kim Kardashian’s extreme diet.
On Tuesday, the Ohio native said she still doesn’t regret speaking out against the Skims founder and her diet. “I have always wanted to stand for something,” she said. “And while I don’t like it if one comment by me turns into 17 articles … I never overthink what I post. It has to be a true representation of how I feel. And I would say that whether I had 100 followers or 100 million.”
