Paris Hilton has become an icon in popular culture due to her lavish lifestyle and participation in several reality television programs, including The Simple Life, Paris Hilton’s My New BFF, and The World According to Paris. The 42-year-old grew up in the spotlight and quickly became a sought-after socialite and media personality. Pop star Pink once made headlines for criticizing Hilton over the infamous s*x tape that had been leaked years ago.

Artists mocked the actress for her lack of creativity and commitment, even though she had become well-known as a socialite and reality TV star.

Paris Hilton Was Furious About Pink’s Music Video That Featured Her In A S*x Tape

Paris Hilton opened up about the distressing experience of having her s*x tape scandal parodied in Pink’s 2006 hit Stupid Girls music video. At the beginning of her fame, Hilton’s ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon leaked and distributed a private video without her consent when she was only 19 years old.

The This Is Paris star regretted what had happened, but the tape was already released in 2004 without her consent. She shared,

“He said he had every right to sell something that belonged to him — something that had a lot of financial value. More value than my privacy. My dignity. My future. Shame, loss, and stark terror swept over me.”

Although the intense scrutiny over the scandal eventually died down, the shame and public ridicule returned years later when popstar Pink released her music video for Stupid Girls, in which she mocked Hilton because of the viral tape.

The model recalled in her memoir how the vocalist made her feel even worse about the situation, disclosing,

“Pink sang about ‘outcasts and girls with ambition. That’s what I wanna see. But she chose not to see it in me. The world thinks of me as an s*x symbol, and I’m here for that, because ‘symbol’ literally means ‘icon.”

She continued,

“But when people saw that s*x tape, they didn’t say ‘icon,’ they said ‘sl*t.’ They said ‘wh**e.’ And they weren’t shy about it. The whole video is a not-at-all-subtle send-up of ‘porno paparazzi girls’ in general and, specifically, me, in a parody of my infamous s*x tape.”

The House Of Wax performer also offered an important perspective on the incident, saying,

“When everyone was buzzing about an s*x tape of a certain teenage girl from a soon-to-be-hit TV show – a girl who said emphatically over and over that she did not want the tape out there – the takeaway was Stupid Girl.”

Pink revealed in 2017 that Hilton confronted her about the video, further adding,

“Paris was upset with me. She said, ‘I just want you to know that I get it, I’m not dumb, I just play like I’m dumb.’ And I was like, ‘that’s kind of my point… I’m gonna go, good to see ya.”

The incident raises questions about the use of scandalous events in pop culture and the treatment of individuals involved in them.

How Pink’s Music Video Humiliated Paris Hilton

The former reality TV star opened up about feeling humiliated by Pink’s hit song Stupid Girls in 2006. The song’s music video featured Pink in sequences that featured ditzy blondes and graphic images of alcoholism.

It was a mockery of Hollywood’s beauty standards and societal expectations of women. One particular scene had Pink parodying Hilton from her infamous tape.

As the song progressed, the songwriter sang lyrics such as,

“Maybe if I act like that, Flipping my blond hair back, Push up my bra like that, Stupid girl, Maybe if I act like that, That guy will call me back”

The song’s music video was fast-paced and featured parody scenes flashing quickly across the screen. Hilton wrote about her experiences of making the 2001 personal tape with her then-boyfriend in her book Paris.

Salomon allegedly threatened to keep the film from being seen by anybody else while pressuring her into making it. Despite the Bottoms Up stager being uncomfortable with the concept and repeatedly denying his approaches, he vowed to find someone else to record the video.

Hilton ultimately gave in to the pressure because she felt she had no other option. She said,

“He told me if I wouldn’t do it, he could easily find someone who would and that was the worst thing I could think of – to be dumped by this grown man because I was a stupid kid who didn’t know how to play grown-up games.”

The 43-year-old had already established a reputation for speaking badly about other women, including Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears. The song Stupid Girls was another instance of Pink using her music to criticize societal norms and expectations.
